About The Position

Banner Health Transfer Services is a centralized 24/7 department (in an office setting environment) responsible for managing the transfer of patients for needed medical services. The department receives requests from emergency departments and hospitals across the state who are unable to meet the patient’s acute care needs. Banner Health Transfer Services supports placement of these patients by an in depth understanding of the services available across the Banner system. Banner Health Transfer Services utilizes multiple software platforms that are designed to meet the specific communication and documentation needs for complex transfers. As a Senior Manager Operations Logistics you will over a team of 25-30 direct reports while they ensure bed placements are made for incoming patients. This role is Hybrid and requires you to be in Phoenix, AZ. You will work Full Time, typically mid-shift hours Mon-Friday and will be Administrator on-call for 1 week at a time every 8weeks. Flexibility is needed to meet the needs of this 24/7 department and hours are not set. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent working knowledge.
  • Must possess a strong knowledge and understanding of healthcare management as normally obtained through two years of leadership experience.
  • Demonstrates knowledge and skills of specialty area.
  • Requires critical thinking, communication, influence, decision-making, analytical, and flexibility skills to make optimal decisions based on multiple variables and desired outcomes.
  • Must have the ability to practice skills according to department and professional standards and quality requirements.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree in healthcare leadership related field preferred.
  • Additional related education and/or experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Plans and provides managerial and/or clinical support to patients/members, staff and leadership within the department.
  • Supervises employees and participates in selection, orientation, counseling, evaluation and staff scheduling.
  • Maintains a depth and breadth of clinical competency to assess outcomes related to patient placement, patient transfers, and other departmental functions.
  • Supervises daily activities patient placement support staff to ensure smooth work flow and operation of hospital departments.
  • Coordinate team activities and the staff-to-workload ratios to accomplish the most effective use of resources.
  • Leads change by developing, implementing and evaluating quality and process improvement initiatives of the department in conjunction with the director.
  • Seeks and utilizes input from staff and oversees change implementation.
  • Ensures compliance with appropriate regulatory agencies.
  • Facilitates communication of system, regional, facility and department initiatives.
  • Manages and develops the operational and capital budgets and use of associated resources.
  • Collaborating with the Clinical Operations team by identifying opportunities of growth, efficiencies and quality for the placement of Banner Health and External Patients.
  • Assures the development of staff leadership through the design of effective shared leadership models and supports career advancement opportunities.
  • Functions as a role model and encourages staff to participate in their own development.
  • Provides system support to all CCO departments to mitigate and resolve placement operations which will include, accuracy of bed availability, efficient patient placement, and allocation of resources with leaders.
  • Manages professional or supervisory employees. Hires, trains, conducts performance reviews, and directs the workflow of designated staff.
  • Makes decisions within approved operating plans and objectives and within functional policies and precedents. May manage budget for large and/or complex projects or programs.
  • Sets direction and resolves problems. Resolves increasingly complex customer complaints or problems.
  • Interacts primarily with direct reports, supervisor, customers, peer managers, supervisor’s peers, patients and physicians.
