About The Position

PSW Group is seeking a Senior Manager – Technical Sales (HPDC) to lead technical sales and services for their high-pressure die casting (HPDC) operations. This role serves as the senior technical interface to customers and partners, responsible for troubleshooting, process optimization, launch support, and customer technical engagement to drive quality, yield, and growth across Mg/Al die cast programs. The company is investing in a state-of-the-art Advanced Casting Technology Center that produces casting components using HPVDC, semi-solid casting, and other new technologies for aluminum and magnesium.

Requirements

  • BS/MS in Mechanical/Manufacturing/Materials/Metallurgical Engineering (or related).
  • 5+ years hands-on experience in HPDC engineering (process, tooling, application, or technical service).
  • Strong working knowledge of tooling/die design and DFM for castings.
  • Demonstrated capability with 3D flow/solidification simulation and interpretation (e.g., FLOW-3D, MAGMA, ProCAST or equivalent).
  • Deep understanding of shot program development (plunger profiles, fast/slow shot, intensification, vacuum timing, thermal control).
  • Proven customer-facing experience and an established network with HPDC Tier 1s and automotive OEMs.
  • Ability to travel as needed (customer sites, trials, launches).

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with semi-solid processing (thixomolding/rheocasting) in magnesium and/or aluminum.
  • Exposure to aerospace casting requirements, specifications, and customer ecosystem; existing relationships a strong plus.
  • Knowledge of vacuum die casting, squeeze/pore-free processes, heat treatment, machining implications, and coating/painting interfaces.
  • Familiarity with APQP/PPAP, DFMEA/PFMEA, SPC, and structured problem-solving (8D, DMAIC).

Responsibilities

  • Lead technical support for HPDC production and new program launches; drive root-cause analysis and corrective/preventive actions for casting defects (porosity, cold shuts, soldering, blisters, distortion, etc.).
  • Optimize die casting processes: shot profile/shot program, gating/runner/overflow/vent/vacuum strategy, thermal management, cycle time, and overall equipment effectiveness (OEE).
  • Provide tooling and die design guidance: DFM, parting line strategy, ejection, cooling layout, steel selection, coating, die life improvement, and tryout support.
  • Utilize and/or guide simulation work (e.g., FLOW-3D/ProCAST/MAGMA): filling/solidification/porosity prediction; translate results into actionable tooling and process changes.
  • Own customer technical communication: reviews, DFMEAs, APQP/PPAP technical inputs, launch readiness, issue resolution, and ongoing performance reporting.
  • Build and maintain a strong external network with HPDC Tier 1s and OEMs; identify opportunities and bring customer/market insights back to internal teams.
  • Lead all sales activities related to HPDC business, including pipeline development, customer engagement, quotations/technical proposals, and commercial coordination to drive revenue growth.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Quality, Manufacturing, Tooling, R&D, and Sales to align technical execution with commercial objectives.
