Requirements

  • 7+ years of Canadian tax experience, preferably in asset management, funds, or partnerships.
  • Strong knowledge of Canadian income tax rules, SLFI/GST/HST, FATCA/CRS, and foreign affiliate reporting.
  • Experience with Tax Prep, Paxus, and fund administration systems.
  • Ability to manage multiple deadlines, prioritize effectively, and communicate clearly with clients.
  • CPA designation.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and review year-end distribution calculations for funds and partnerships.
  • Complete and review Canadian tax returns and investor reporting slips (T3, T5013, T5008).
  • Manage annual FATCA and CRS due diligence, reporting, and investor classification.
  • Prepare SLFI GST/HST filings and ensure compliance with special attribution rules.
  • Prepare and review foreign affiliate reporting packages (T1134).
  • Run mock tax calculations for planning, forecasting, and client discussions.
  • Process investor ACB updates and manage workflows with large clients.
  • Participate in tax planning kickoff meetings and support structuring discussions.
  • Review client onboarding reports, set up tax profiles, and ensure smooth integration into tax processes.
  • Maintain investor-level ACB and ARA data within tax software.
  • Lead internal training, monitor legislative changes, and update templates, binders, and process documentation.
  • Support automation initiatives and coordinate with operations teams.
  • Issue invoices and follow up with clients on outstanding items.
  • Utilize Tax Prep software for compliance, reporting, and workflow management.
