About The Position

The Senior Manager, Talent Development is responsible for identifying and responding to the critical workforce requirements (skills, competencies, and performance outcomes) necessary to achieve current and future business results, design learning opportunities, and professional development programs to address talent needs to promote career development. Focuses on succession planning, leadership and team development, coaching, assessment, performance management, employee engagement, use of team and leadership tools/practices to lead leaders, teams, and organization to drive performance excellence.

Requirements

  • Seven plus years of related experience.
  • Three plus years of management experience.
  • Human Resources experience in the retail industry with innovative practice concerning talent development.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and facilitation skills.
  • Strong time management and organizational skills.
  • Ability to maintain high level of confidentiality.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business information.
  • Possess strong communication and presentation skills, both written and verbal, and the ability to communicate effective with different levels of the business via phone, written and in-person communication.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from executives, managers, stores, customers, clients, and the public.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • The ability to think strategically, synthesize data, identify trends, and recommend viable solutions.
  • Able to use rigorous logic and methods to solve problems with effective solutions.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in Human Resources, Adult Learning, Learning and Development, or related field is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Develops, manages, and executes the strategic, operational, and technological direction of the learning enterprise including the business requirements, solutions, and integrations.
  • Align learning initiatives with business goals and priorities, build an annual learning roadmap and development plans, and conduct needs assessments.
  • Provides critical support in partnering with the business and stakeholders to cultivate and reinforce a learning culture.
  • Responsible for performance calibration and review processes to meet ongoing and future business needs.
  • Provides thought leadership, advice and counsel on learning and development strategy, direction, and interventions to senior leaders and/or HR business partners.
  • Leads, designs, and implements learning and development processes and models focused on competencies and talent gaps to determine the skills and knowledge necessary to achieve the organization’s strategic objectives.
  • Coordinates the planning and maintenance of succession planning and high potential programs.
  • Manages talent progression and readiness within succession plans and talent pools.
  • Build and Manage a high-performing Instructional Design team with a focus on new courses and assessments.
  • Oversees the creation and execution of instructional projects and Visualizes, plans, and creates instructional graphics, the user interface, and the finished product.
  • Ensures that diversity, equity, and inclusion programs are incorporated in the development of the talent pipeline and programs to support building the organization's winning team comprised of diverse, compassionate, and competitive individuals.
  • Establishes and maintains metrics for talent programs to measure results and assess effectiveness.
  • Consistently reviews relevant training resources and stays abreast of new training technology and methods to adapt to the organization’s needs.
  • Protects the company’s assets and financial information by ensuring the accuracy and effectiveness of internal control procedures and informing management and/or appropriate officials of potential fraud risk.
  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
  • Responsibilities include leading efforts in the design of programs, lead, and drive development events, provide learning opportunities designed for associate growth of skills and knowledge, and foster a culture of learning and development.
