About The Position

This management position has responsibility for all Structural Analysis Engineering activities for Cargo Systems including new technology pursuits, new product introduction (NPI), sustainment, and aftermarket. The team is composed of several Structural Analysis Engineers and is responsible for the estimation, planning and execution of Cargo Systems structural analysis activities in accordance with stakeholder requirements. This role will report to the Cargo Product Owner and will be based in Jamestown, North Dakota. This is a hybrid position requiring a minimum of three (3) days per week onsite. Additional onsite presence will be required as business needs dictate.

Requirements

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 10 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 7 years of experience.
  • Experience as a team lead or similar role.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and lead a team of engineers, including interviewing, hiring, assigning work, training, mentoring, coaching and providing performance feedback to ensure consistent application of processes and procedures.
  • Collaborate with program leadership to ensure adequate staffing and execution of new product development programs.
  • Develop, communicate, and execute resourcing plans to support future business needs.
  • Forecast future structural analysis demand and provide staffing guidance to the Global Engineering & Technology Centers structural analysis teams.
  • Partner with other Collins Aerospace locations and business units to ensure adequate resource levels are met on cargo development programs.
  • Participate in college and professional recruiting activities to support the staffing needs of Cargo Systems.
  • Collaborate with the Chief Structural Engineer and structural analysis team members to develop and maintain a sound set of processes and methods that will ensure consistent team performance and smooth onboarding of new team members.
  • Oversee the estimating process for any Cargo System structural analysis activities.
  • Assign resources, track schedule and cost performance, ensure quality compliance.
  • Foster a culture of Continuous Improvement and Innovation within the structural analysis engineering discipline.
  • Work strategically and tactically to support successful project completion.
  • Support business travel up to 10%.
