Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university in aerospace engineering, physics, systems engineering, or a related technical or scientific field required.
  • 10+ years of professional experience in human spaceflight, with direct FCT and crew training responsibilities.
  • Experience in FOD real-time operations, supports ISS, including familiarity with ISS systems, flight rules, and anomaly management.
  • Demonstrated experience developing and managing flight controller training programs and serving as the certification authority.
  • Experience supporting crew training for PAM or equivalent human spaceflight missions.
  • Demonstrated experience leading FCT teams through simulations and live mission execution in coordination with NASA.
  • Experience working directly with astronauts, managing their training schedules and requirements.
  • To conform to U.S. Government export regulations, including the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) (22 CFR Parts 120–130) and the Export Administration Regulations (EAR) (15 CFR Parts 730–774), applicants for this position must be a U.S. Person: a US Citizen, a lawful permanent resident of the U.S., or a protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. § 1324b(a)(3). Applicants must be eligible to obtain any required export authorizations from the U.S. Department of State or the U.S. Department of Commerce.
  • Able to obtain and maintain a U.S. security clearance

  • Experience with previous PAM programs.
  • Experience and qualifications that would allow direct support of Ax-5 or comparable missions with minimal ramp-up time.
  • Experience working with SpaceX Dragon crew training processes and direct interface with the SpaceX training team

Responsibilities

  • Manage the FCT through all phases of training, simulation, and real-time mission execution.
  • Define, develop, and own the FCT training plan, including curriculum, simulation campaigns, and certification standards.
  • Serve as the certification authority for FCT qualifications, maintaining training records and tracking progress against milestones.
  • Design and execute integrated simulation campaigns, from early partial sims through full-up integrated sims, coordinating scenario development and evaluation.
  • Ensure the FCT is operationally ready; not only technically proficient but trained to communicate effectively, follow flight rules, and work within the broader mission team structure in alignment with NASA expectations.
  • Define and own the PAM Crew training plan for both prime and backup crew members.
  • Own the Crew training schedule, coordinating across NASA, SpaceX, Voyager, payload customers, and BDC stakeholders to maintain alignment and prevent conflicts.
  • Interface directly with astronauts, manage their training requirements and schedules, and advocate for their readiness across all mission phases.
  • Ensure crew training activities are integrated with FCT simulations to build a cohesive, mission-ready team.
  • Serve as the senior FCT authority during real-time mission execution, making time-critical decisions in coordination with NASA flight operations.
  • Apply deep familiarity with ISS FOD real-time operations protocols, flight rules, and anomaly management to guide the team through nominal and contingency situations.
  • Maintain strong working relationships with NASA and SpaceX counterparts, ensuring Voyager operations remain aligned to standards and expectations throughout training and execution.
  • Interface confidently and regularly with NASA, SpaceX, customers, and internal Voyager leadership to represent FCT and Crew training status and readiness.
  • Identify and resolve training schedule conflicts, gaps, or readiness risks proactively, communicating impacts and mitigations to stakeholders.
  • Support business development and mission planning activities as needed, providing subject matter expertise on FCT and crew training requirements.
  • Maintain documentation of training program status, certification records, and schedule in accordance with Voyager and NASA standards
  • Directly manages the FCT and the PAM Crew (primes and backups).
  • Provides training oversight, coaching, mentorship, and performance feedback to flight controllers and crew members.
  • Establishes and enforces certification standards and training readiness criteria for all team members.
  • May be asked to provide training, coaching, mentorship, or feedback to team members across the company on specified tasks.

  • Responsible for traveling up to 25%, both foreign and domestic, to launch sites, customer facilities, NASA/Government centers, and training facilities.
  • Support crew selection discussions and interviews as required.
  • Responsible for working a flexible schedule to support mission operations, simulations, and training activities, including weekends and/or holidays as required.
