The Senior Manager, Sourcing, leads the development and execution of advanced sourcing strategies by collaborating with cross-functional partners to align with business objectives. This role oversees supplier relationships, negotiates cost-effective agreements, and ensures supply continuity while maintaining quality and compliance standards. The position drives performance improvements through data analysis and strategic planning, supports team development, and fosters a culture of accountability and integrity. The Senior Manager plays a critical role in advancing company growth initiatives and operational excellence within the sourcing function. The Sourcing team plays a vital role in securing the best value for customers through disciplined cost management, strategic supplier partnerships, and supply chain innovation. This team ensures reliable supply and advances responsible sourcing practices while reducing costs. Collaborating closely with Merchandising and other business partners, the team delivers quality products that customers can trust. They leverage expertise in supply chain management, strategic sourcing, and negotiation to drive continuous improvement and support Walmart’s commitment to operational excellence and sustainable growth.

Requirements

  • Proven experience developing and executing sourcing or procurement strategies, with strong negotiation and vendor management skills.
  • Strong understanding of cost drivers, supply chain dynamics, manufacturing, and financial levers that impact margin and performance.
  • Ability to build relationships and influence stakeholders at all levels across Merchandising, Product Development, and Supply Chain.
  • Comfort analyzing data, identifying trends (e.g., commodity or supplier performance), and translating insights into actionable strategies.
  • Proficiency in commodity management, direct imports, and category strategy development.
  • A proactive, solutions-oriented approach with a desire to learn, innovate, and drive continuous improvement in sourcing strategies.
  • Option 1: Bachelor's degree in business, mathematics, engineering, or related area and 2 years’ experience in merchandising, sourcing, planning, finance, or related area.
  • Option 2: 6 years’ experience in merchandising, sourcing, planning, finance, or related area.

Responsibilities

  • Lead end-to-end sourcing strategies for the Pet Food category, driving cost optimization, quality improvements, and long-term business growth.
  • Collaborate with Merchants, Product Development, Supply Chain, and other partners to influence key decisions around assortment, pricing, replenishment, and product lifecycle.
  • Establish and maintain strong partnerships with suppliers to ensure performance, innovation, and scalability across the category.
  • Serve as a category expert by analyzing data, market trends, commodity pricing and supplier insights to inform sourcing strategies and purchasing decisions.
  • Manage budgets, monitor key performance indicators, and ensure sourcing decisions align with overall business objectives for growth and profitability.
