About The Position

As a Senior Manager, OS, Software Engineering at Walmart-Vizio, you will lead and grow a high-performing engineering organization responsible for delivering seamless, performant, and scalable middleware that would run on our Vizio TV stack running on a Linux OS. You will partner closely with Product, Design, and cross-functional engineering teams to build customer-centric solutions that handle millions of interactions across the TVs, within the Walmart-Vizio ecosystem. This role requires a strong blend of technical leadership, architectural vision, people management, and a passion for building exceptional customer experiences.

Requirements

  • 10-15 years of software development experience, including strong hands-on in C++ on a Linux OS, including 8+ years of people management experience.
  • Demonstrated experience leading large-scale, cross-functional programs or initiatives.
  • Experience working with SoC vendors, ODMs and prototyping iteratively based on new technology.
  • Strong analytical capability with a track record of using data, KPIs, and insights to influence direction and drive results.
  • Deep commitment to ethical leadership, transparency, compliance, and servant leadership principles.
  • Excellent communication, facilitation, and relationship‑building skills with the ability to influence across levels.
  • Proven ability to manage complexity, create clarity, solve ambiguous problems, and drive continuous improvement.
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, computer information systems, software engineering, or related area and 5 years’ experience in software engineering or related area.
  • 7 years’ experience in software engineering or related area.
  • 2 years’ supervisory experience.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, mentor, and grow multiple TV software engineering teams that write applications on a Linux environment, fostering a culture of ownership, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Recruit, develop, and retain top engineering talent; conduct performance management and career development conversations.
  • Drive engineering excellence through code quality, testing, documentation, and operational best practices.
  • Define and execute the engineering roadmap for the middleware capabilities within the ViziOS software stack, ensuring alignment with product and business goals.
  • Provide architectural direction for scalable, modular, and secure applications across platforms.
  • Oversee end-to-end delivery of features, ensuring high availability, optimal performance, and exceptional user experience.
  • Partner with Product Management to refine requirements, set priorities, and deliver high-impact member experiences.
  • Work closely with QA, Program Management, Operating Systems, NPI and Component verticals to optimize the TV performance and offer a seamless experience to the end customer.
  • Champion automation, CI/CD, observability, and engineering productivity improvements.
  • Establish KPIs & SLAs for system reliability, performance, and feature velocity.
  • Drive incident response processes, root-cause analysis, and long-term preventative solutions

  • The annual salary range for this position is $110,000.00 - $220,000.00
