About The Position

The Senior Manager, Software Engineering, leads platform-level execution of software and AI/ML systems, ensuring alignment with strategic priorities and roadmap milestones. This role oversees infrastructure, tooling, and frameworks that support scalable, secure development while driving full lifecycle management across multiple teams. The position champions DevOps practices, cloud cost optimization, and technical excellence to deliver high-availability systems. Collaborating with cross-functional teams, the manager guides architectural decisions, mentors engineers, and manages stakeholder relationships to achieve business objectives and continuous improvement in software delivery and innovation. Our team delivers high-quality insights from associate surveys using advanced machine learning tools. We collaborate closely with product management, project teams, and business partners to design and develop scalable technical solutions. Focused on continuous development and iterative delivery, the team applies strong expertise in API design, platform development, and debugging. Emphasizing problem-solving and innovation, we support business goals by ensuring timely project execution with robust documentation and testing. This collaborative environment fosters excellence in software engineering practices and drives impactful, reliable solutions aligned with organizational objectives.

Requirements

  • Extensive experience leading platform engineering and software development lifecycle across multiple teams.
  • Proven expertise in DevOps architecture, CI/CD practices, and cloud-native solutions to enhance system reliability and scalability.
  • Strong skills in stakeholder and project management, aligning technical execution with business goals and roadmaps.
  • Demonstrated ability to drive AI/ML integration and deliver innovative, maintainable software systems.
  • Proficiency in cloud financial management and automation to optimize operational costs and reduce toil.
  • Exceptional problem-solving, technical judgment, and collaboration skills to guide architectural decisions and cross-team initiatives.
  • Commitment to mentoring engineers and fostering continuous improvement and technical excellence.
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, computer information systems, software engineering, or related area and 5 years’ experience in software engineering or related area.
  • OR 7 years’ experience in software engineering or related area.
  • 2 years’ supervisory experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, computer information systems, software engineering, or related area and 3 years' experience in software engineering or related area.
  • Background in creating inclusive digital experiences, demonstrating knowledge in implementing Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 AA standards, assistive technologies, and integrating digital accessibility seamlessly.
  • Knowledge of accessibility best practices and joining us as we continue to create accessible products and services following Walmart’s accessibility standards and guidelines for supporting an inclusive culture.

  • Collaborate with product, data science, and engineering teams to deliver AI-integrated software features and intelligent automation.
  • Mentor engineers, promote technical quality, and guide architectural decisions to ensure maintainability and performance.
  • Manage stakeholder relationships, track milestones, and align engineering efforts with business goals.
  • Foster continuous improvement through innovation, process enhancements, and operational excellence.
