As a Capital One iOS Sr Software Engineering Manager, you’ll have the opportunity to be on the forefront of driving major transformation within Capital One. At Capital One, the Mobile Platform teams are pushing the boundaries of what it means to deliver mobile applications at enterprise scale. Our monorepos are being leveraged not only to deliver the flagship Capital One mobile applications for iOS and Android, but are extending to support additional high visibility, customer facing applications such as Capital One Travel, and beyond. We’re looking for an experienced, highly technical people leader to help take our platform capabilities and mobile architecture to the next level across all aspects of the SDLC.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • At least 6 years of experience in software engineering (Internship experience does not apply)
  • At least 4 years of people management experience
  • At least 5 years of experience building iOS applications
  • At least 3 years of experience with Swift

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s Degree
  • 7+ years of people management experience
  • 7+ years of experience building iOS applications
  • 4+ years of experience with Swift
  • 4+ years of experience in open source frameworks
  • 2+ years of experience with Agile practices
  • 2+ years experience working with Bazel in a monorepo context

Responsibilities

  • Own and lead delivery of major components and platform needs in partnership with senior engineers and Architects.
  • Identify and prioritize work through collaboration with senior product and technical leadership.
  • Grow and provide SME level leadership while managing a team of mobile developers
  • Develop iOS client code solutions that deliver on Product Strategy and adhere to established engineering best practices, design guidelines and principles
  • Partner with Software Engineers, UX/UI, Quality Engineers, Product Owners/Analysts to deliver high performing quality customer experiences that are engaging, purposeful and powerful in their simplicity
  • Work across all aspects of the SDLC, from intent refinement and process definition, framework development to developer experience, CI/CD, test automation, release management and beyond.
  • Actively participate in all team Agile ceremonies, contributing to ensure that all team commitments are delivered on time and of the highest quality
  • Be an active advocate of the mobile platform through both internal and external developer communities
  • Remain an active learner in all technologies related to mobile development (Swift, Bazel, 3rd party libraries, etc.)
  • Influence and contribute to group discussions and incorporate feedback/communication from the broader team
  • Mentor junior to mid-level members of the team
  • Actively engage with developers outside of the local sprint team across various disciplines (Android, iOS, Web, Services, etc.)
  • Consistently share best practices and improve processes within and across sprint teams
  • Identify technical obstacles early and work closely with the team to find creative solutions
  • Review pull requests and ensure adherence to Swift and other language idioms
