About The Position

The Senior Manager, Security Area provides strategic leadership, operational oversight, and administrative management for security services throughout Banner University Medical Center Tucson, Banner University Medical Center South, and affiliated ambulatory and outpatient clinic locations. This position is responsible for ensuring a safe, secure, and healing environment for patients, visitors, physicians, staff, and community stakeholders through the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of comprehensive security, emergency response, workplace violence prevention, and regulatory compliance programs. The Senior Manager serves as a key operational partner to Executive Leadership, Nursing, Quality Improvement, Risk Management, Human Resources, Facilities, Emergency Management, and external public safety agencies to support organizational goals related to safety, patient experience, regulatory compliance, and operational excellence. This is a full-time day shift position Monday through Friday, but we also answer calls, emails, and occasionally attend meetings after hours, and nights. This position plans and manages the security program for the system area assigned and will have responsibility for multiple facilities. This includes managing security supervisors, security activities and staff at multiple facilities to ensure security needs are met, as well as providing protection for system property and equipment. Plays a key role in developing and implementing security policies and procedures for the facilities.

Requirements

• Must possess a valid driver’s license and be eligible for coverage under the company auto insurance policy.
• Must possess a strong knowledge and understanding of security through 5 years of hospital security, law enforcement or military experience.
• Must have at least 3 years leadership experience in hospital security, law enforcement or military service.
• Must demonstrate effective communication and teamwork skills.
• Must be results oriented and able to independently supervise multiple security departmental processes and activities simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
• Employees must possess a Fingerprint Clearance Card within 60 days of hire and maintain the card for the duration of their employment.
• Employees working at Banner Behavioral Health Hospital must have a fingerprint clearance card at time of hire and must sign a Criminal History Affidavit upon hire.

Responsibilities

• Hires, trains, conducts performance evaluations, and directs the workflow for the security supervisors and security staff within assigned region. This position plays a key role in the development and implementation of department policies, procedures, goals, and objectives. Ensures all goals and objectives are met timely and effectively.
• Develops, plans, prioritizes and directs overall department work assignments for supervisors and department staff members. Provides leadership and directs the work of all department staff in the absence of the department director.
• Develops and maintains productive working relationships with hospital administration and management by ensuring effective communication and positive customer relations.
• Monitors and oversees the tracking and trending of employee, patient and visitor security data. This includes managing all incident reports and field investigations. Presents findings and recommendations to senior leadership.
• Partners with leadership to develop the department‘s annual budget in conjunction with established goals and objectives. Ensures budgetary goals are met on an annual basis.
• Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, and participating in professional societies.
• May have direct managerial responsibility for multiple facilities assigned. Internal customers include all levels of organizational employees, physicians, patients, visitors and volunteers. External customers include law enforcement agencies, regulatory agencies, security system vendors, schools and neighborhood associations.
