About The Position

To serve as a charter school specialist supporting grant funding administration and the implementation, and continuous monitoring of the OCPS charter schools in order to ensure compliance with federal and state regulations and support student achievement in line with district goals and objectives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution or any equivalent combination of related education, training, and/or experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential job functions.
  • Five (5) years of experience in managing budgets, analyzing information and reporting through an enterprise-wide system.
  • One (1) year of experience in charter school statutory compliance and grants management preferred.
  • Experience working with SAP preferred.
  • Knowledge of current educational trends, charter and grant administration process.
  • Knowledge of processes and sources of grant funding opportunities and monitoring practices.
  • Ability to analyze data and analyze grant budgets.
  • Knowledge related to charter school accountability requirements and compliance.
  • Ability to interpret State Board rules, statutes and School Board Policy.
  • Knowledge of school finance, particularly in the area of project budget development, set up and monitoring for compliance and accountability.
  • Ability to work and communicate effectively with people and communicate effectively with strong writing l skills.
  • Ability to facilitate group processes in consensus building, conflict resolution, planning and decision-making.
  • Ability to work within a team setting and support a variety of departmental projects.
  • Understands that quality teaching and learning are the essential processes and product of public schools and has the ability to focus human and financial resources toward this end.

Nice To Haves

  • One (1) year of experience in charter school statutory compliance and grants management preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Model the routine, intentional and effective use of technology in daily work, including communications, organization and management tasks.
  • Coordinate the administration and tracking of assigned grants, contracts, special projects and charter contract compliance deliverables.
  • Coordinate procedures for the management of funded grants, contracts, special projects from award to close out.
  • Work with and through people to develop compliance and accountability systems to ensure state and federal categorical programs comply with applicable rules and regulations.
  • Monitor funded projects and assist charter school leaders in meeting grant funding requirements and general charter compliance requirements.
  • Provide information to the Senior Director, School Choice Services and charter schools regarding compliance issues and regulations.
  • Support district and the Office of School Choice in meeting the statutory requirements related to charter schools.
  • Maintain and monitor the charter school electronic, statutory compliance database.
  • Assist charter schools in accessing resources and materials for effectiveness.
  • Provide technical assistance and support to charter school applicants and schools to help them apply and implement their respective charters.
  • Assist Office of School Choice in making data-driven decisions about grants administration, grant reimbursement, and ongoing assessment of other charter programs.
  • Provide leadership and guidance related to the charter school initiative and grants.
  • Provide charter school leadership with timely information to monitor and maintain consistency with federal, state and district policies and guidelines.
  • Serve as a liaison with the charter schools and appropriate district staff.
  • Provide district leadership regarding current trends, best practices and promising innovations in educational programs/processes and grants funding administration.
  • Assist with the development of a system of feedback and assessment of awarded projects to determine their responsiveness to the needs of the charter schools.
  • Keep the Senior Director, School Choice Services informed of current critical issues and incidents about which they should be aware.
  • Follow the district’s policies and procedures as related to all HRMD guidelines and the district’s instructional initiatives.
  • Follow the district’s policies and procedures as related to fixed assets.
  • Develop leadership in subordinates.
  • Responsible for keeping up to date on current technology being used by OCPS.
  • With the support of the district, attend training to ensure skill level in various technologies is at the level required to perform in current position.
  • Responsible for maintaining timely and accurate information and accountable for the quality of information provided to charter schools and leadership.
  • Responsible for self-development and keeping up to date on current research, trends and best practices relevant to the area of responsibility.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by supervisor.
