About The Position

Samsung Electronics America, Inc. (SEA) is seeking a Senior Manager of Risk & Reputation to join their Corporate Communications team. This role is responsible for executing a US-media strategy to enhance Samsung's position as a leading and trusted brand by increasing positive sentiment and brand profile. The Senior Manager will proactively identify potential threats to the brand, demonstrate confidence in crisis situations, and work as a key player on a specialized team focused on strategic action against threats and anticipating risks to the company's reputation in the U.S. The role reports directly to the Director of Risk & Reputation.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 8+ years of relevant experience in risk management, corporate communications, journalism, or a related field.
  • Experience working directly with journalists, editors, and members of the media.
  • Experience writing PR materials (e.g., press releases, pitch decks, story development).
  • Experience managing PR agencies and technology vendors.
  • Experience optimizing technology to continually improve the effectiveness of media measurement tools.
  • Experience collaborating and leading discussions on handling large-scale issues with executives.
  • Experience designing training for all levels - Executives, leaders, and SEA employees.
  • Experience with crisis management, understanding key risks, developing objectives and a strategy for addressing risks, and leading teams to a desired outcome.
  • Experience developing a communication strategy (e.g., intake sessions with VPs and above, advance planning for key events, media training) and establishing a governance process for managing requests from executives for PR/Media support.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a multi-year strategy to evolve SEA’s reputational risk and crisis management program.
  • Provide expertise on key issues and deliver advisory support to executives in response to national media stories.
  • Monitor global brand risks.
  • Deliver in-depth situational reports and executive coverage reports on crisis response.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to monitor and analyze external trends and issues that could impact the company’s reputation.
  • Educate non-US executives on crisis management and crisis communications.
  • Analyze the media landscape and provide strategic advisory support to executives on engaging with the media.
  • Drive a data-driven strategy with domestic and international media.
  • Drive and lead key projects and activities to support SEA Corporate Communications such as writing press releases, press interviews, and Samsung Spotlight moments (e.g., CES, Unpacked).
  • Facilitate executive-level coaching on media policies, Q&A, media engagement, and ensure message continuity across SEA speakers.
  • Design intelligence reports to bolster information for the PR community and develop media insights reports.
  • Lead crisis management efforts by coordinating response plans and ensuring timely communication with key stakeholders.
  • Provide strategic guidance on reputation management initiatives to align with corporate objectives.
  • Conduct regular risk assessments and report findings to senior leadership for informed decision-making.
