About The Position

This role is responsible for leading the weekly production of end-to-end governance reporting for multiple executive forums, including the T&O Regulatory Working Group, T&O Regulatory Meeting, RBC CTO update to RBC CEO on technology regulatory remediation, and submissions to the US Technology Operating Committee. The Senior Manager will present weekly observations, risks, and key questions to mid-level executives, facilitate discussions to drive resolution of identified issues, and collect information for departmental achievements and ad hoc requests. The role also involves reviewing and challenging project statuses, ensuring necessary artifacts are submitted, establishing reporting standards, and assigning activities to Project Control Officers (PCOs). Additionally, the Senior Manager will coach Project Managers and Program Managers on reporting quality and clarity, mentor PCOs, and deliver knowledge sessions. The role also acts as Product Owner for RPMO reporting automation and AI initiatives.

Requirements

  • 8–12 years of professional experience, including substantive background in project delivery or program management.
  • Demonstrated experience in regulated industries (banking, insurance, healthcare) and understanding of regulatory remediation requirements.
  • Strong understanding of project risk management principles and project governance frameworks (PRINCE2, PMI, or equivalent).
  • Proven track record presenting to C-suite and Board-level audiences.
  • Ability to write with clarity and precision so that senior executives understand key issues, risks, and recommendations.
  • Experience distilling complex technical information into strategic narratives appropriate for different stakeholder levels.
  • Advanced PowerPoint and presentation skills with ability to summarize and present data in a professional, compelling manner.
  • Ability to clearly tell a story using narrative, charts, and diagrams.
  • Experience designing dashboards or executive scorecards that drive decision-making.
  • Demonstrated experience mentoring project managers and improving their reporting quality and clarity.
  • Ability to provide constructive feedback on narratives and technical content.
  • Experience establishing reporting standards and quality gates.
  • Ability to identify gaps between narrative and data; process improvement background.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and competing deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience with document management systems and SharePoint administration.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the weekly production of end-to-end governance reporting spanning multiple executive forums.
  • Present weekly observations, risks, and key questions to mid-level executives in governance forums and facilitate discussion to seek meaningful answers and drive resolution of identified issues.
  • Collect information and prepare reports on departmental achievements and respond to ad hoc information requests to support other governance forums.
  • Ensure all reporting is complete, accurate, understandable, and supports executive decision-making at all levels up to the President.
  • Identify and communicate key risks, decisions required, and business implications at the executive level.
  • Review and challenge project statuses submitted by programs, identifying inconsistencies where the status narrative does not align with project plans and/or statuses are not clearly communicated.
  • Ensure Project Managers and Program Managers submit necessary artifacts to support program governance and reporting.
  • Establish and maintain governance reporting standards and quality gates.
  • Assign activities to a pool of shared Project Control Officers (PCOs) and verify the quality of work produced by these staff members.
  • Coach Project Managers and Program Managers to improve the quality and clarity of status reports, with particular emphasis on Amber and Red status narratives that articulate clear paths to Green.
  • Provide direction and guidance to PMs and PgMs on RPMO governance standards and best practices.
  • Mentor Project Control Officers on reporting standards, data interpretation, and executive communication.
  • Deliver knowledge sessions on key topics including the regulatory remediation process, lessons learned, best practices, and risk management principles.
  • Provide constructive feedback to stakeholders on translating complex project challenges into clear executive communication.
  • Collect Lessons Learned from programs after key milestones, replanning exercises, and at project completion; document and socialize learnings across the organization.
  • Collect regular feedback from governance forum stakeholders to improve materials, agenda items, and knowledge sessions.
  • Lead and/or participate in process improvement projects to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the governance process and department operations.
  • Act as Product Owner for RPMO reporting automation and AI initiatives, providing requirements, feedback, and testing support to technology partners on regulatory reporting processes and dashboards.
