About The Position

As a member of the RBC Global Privacy team, you will be one of RBCs trusted experts on privacy matters and will play a pivotal role in enhancing our global privacy program. You will work closely with privacy teams in the 1st line of defense and stakeholders across the business and functions to implement privacy strategies that align with our goals. Requirements

  • A minimum of 5 years privacy compliance and governance experience including a good understanding of the application of relevant Canadian and other major global privacy laws such as the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA)
  • Detail oriented, problem solver and critical thinker
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and changing requirements with minimal supervision
  • Ability to think strategically and provide practical solutions
  • Team player with an open and collaborative approach to delivering required outcomes
  • Gen AI understanding and exposure

Nice To Haves

  • Financial services industry experience
  • Previous experience working in a risk management role
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., CIPM, CIPP)

Responsibilities

  • Support the Head of Privacy, Canada & Caribbean to provide oversight and support across Canada & Caribbean businesses and functions.
  • Support the maintenance and enhancement of the Global Privacy Program within the region.
  • Collaborate with the Canadian & Caribbean 1st Line of Defense (1LOD) Privacy teams and ensure appropriate oversight of the activities performed by these teams.
  • Ensure a consistent approach to privacy risk management by strengthening overall oversight and challenge for Canadian and Caribbean businesses and functions.
  • Review and challenge the business with relating to their management of privacy risk and maintain a general understanding of how RBC collects, uses and stores personal data.
  • Review escalated Privacy Risk Assessments, Supplier Risk Management Assessments, Privacy Incidents/Breaches, data subject right requests and complaints.
  • Provide privacy subject matter expertise and guidance to ensure compliance with all relevant regulations.
  • In conjunction with the relevant 1LOD Privacy teams and businesses, development of an appropriate and effective response to and resolution of any privacy issues, deficiencies or breaches identified.
  • Monitor changes to the privacy laws, regulations and best practice within the region, assisting with impact and gap assessments to effect timely changes to policies, supporting the business to update their processes and controls.
