About The Position

TheraCom is seeking an experienced and highly accountable Pharmacy Manager / Pharmacist-in-Charge (PIC) to provide onsite leadership for our mail order pharmacy operations in Brooks, Kentucky. This role is responsible for overseeing the pharmacist team, ensuring compliant pharmacy operations, supporting safe and accurate prescription fulfillment, and maintaining adherence to applicable federal and state pharmacy laws, Board of Pharmacy requirements, accreditation standards, company policies, and client program requirements. The Pharmacy Manager / PIC will serve as the designated pharmacist leader for the site and will be responsible for ensuring that pharmacy services are performed with the highest standards of quality, patient safety, regulatory compliance, operational efficiency, and professional practice.

Requirements

  • Doctor of Pharmacy degree or Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy from an accredited school of pharmacy.
  • Active and unrestricted pharmacist license in Kentucky, or ability to obtain Kentucky licensure prior to assuming PIC responsibilities.
  • Ability to serve as Pharmacist-in-Charge in accordance with Kentucky Board of Pharmacy requirements.
  • Minimum of 5 years of pharmacist experience, preferably in mail order, specialty pharmacy, hospital, managed care, or high-volume pharmacy operations.
  • Minimum of 2 years of leadership, supervisory, or management experience in a pharmacy setting.
  • Strong knowledge of federal and state pharmacy laws, Board of Pharmacy regulations, controlled substance requirements, HIPAA/privacy standards, and pharmacy quality practices.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead teams, manage competing priorities, and make sound decisions in a regulated healthcare environment.
  • Strong communication, problem-solving, organizational, and documentation skills.
  • Ability to work onsite at the Brooks, KY pharmacy location.
  • Requires broad training in fields such as business administration, accountancy, sales, marketing, computer sciences or similar vocations generally obtained through completion of a four year Bachelor's Degree program or equivalent combination of experience and education.
  • Normally requires two (2) to four (4) years directly related and progressively responsible experience, including at least one (1) year in a management role; a Degree in Pharmacy from an accredited College of Pharmacy.
  • Unrestricted, current state license as a Registered Pharmacist in resident state is required.

  • Prior experience serving as a Pharmacist-in-Charge or pharmacy manager.
  • Multi-state pharmacist licensure or experience supporting multi-state pharmacy operations.
  • Experience in mail order or specialty pharmacy operations.
  • Experience supporting manufacturer-sponsored pharmacy programs, patient support services, or hub/pharmacy coordination.
  • Familiarity with accreditation standards such as URAC, ACHC, NABP, or similar pharmacy accreditation frameworks.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the Pharmacist-in-Charge for the Brooks, KY mail order pharmacy location.
  • Provide onsite leadership, direction, and oversight to the pharmacist team.
  • Manage pharmacist scheduling, workload distribution, performance expectations, and daily operational support.
  • Coach, mentor, and develop pharmacists to support professional growth and consistent performance.
  • Promote a culture of accountability, collaboration, patient safety, compliance, and continuous improvement.
  • Partner with pharmacy operations leadership, technician leaders, quality, compliance, client services, and other cross-functional teams to support program performance and operational excellence.
  • Involved and informed of industry/pharmacy practice regulatory changes and desire to stay abreast of potential upcoming industry directions.
  • Ensure pharmacy operations comply with all applicable federal and state laws, Kentucky Board of Pharmacy regulations, DEA requirements, payer requirements, accreditation standards, and internal policies and procedures.
  • Maintain responsibility for PIC-related duties, including oversight of pharmacy practice standards, licensure requirements, inspections, recordkeeping, and required regulatory reporting.
  • Monitor and support compliance with policies related to prescription processing, pharmacist verification, dispensing accuracy, controlled substances, patient counseling, documentation, privacy, and medication safety.
  • Ensure appropriate maintenance of pharmacy licenses, permits, registrations, and related documentation.
  • Support preparation for and response to Board of Pharmacy inspections, audits, accreditation (ACHC) renewals, client audits, and internal compliance reviews.
  • Identify compliance risks and partner with leadership to implement corrective and preventive actions.
  • Oversee pharmacist responsibilities related to prescription verification, drug utilization review, clinical appropriateness, product accuracy, and patient safety.
  • Ensure timely and accurate fulfillment of prescriptions in accordance with service level agreements, quality standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Monitor workflow performance and resolve operational issues that could impact dispensing quality, turnaround times, or patient care.
  • Collaborate with operations teams to support efficient mail order processes, including prescription intake, clinical review, dispensing, shipping coordination, and exception management.
  • Support inventory, storage, handling, and dispensing practices consistent with product requirements and pharmacy standards.
  • Assist with implementation of new programs, process changes, technology enhancements, and client-specific requirements.
  • Monitoring of licensing and licensure for both the pharmacy and pharmacy staff.
  • Management of After-Hours support team.
  • Manage the pharmacy’s access control and surveillance system in partnership with the Corporate Security team.
  • Serve as the Authorized Representative (AR) for REMS programs.
  • Lead or support quality initiatives focused on dispensing accuracy, clinical review, workflow consistency, documentation standards, and patient safety.
  • Review, investigate, and address medication incidents, near misses, complaints, and quality events in accordance with company procedures.
  • Ensure pharmacists are trained on applicable SOPs, work instructions, system requirements, and regulatory expectations.
  • Ensure update and revised SOPs and documents relevant to this position.
  • Maintain clear documentation and promote adherence to approved procedures.
  • Identify opportunities to improve workflow, reduce risk, enhance team effectiveness, and strengthen the patient and provider experience.
  • Partner with compliance, legal, quality assurance, training, operations, client management, inventory, fulfillment, and technology teams as needed.
  • Leads monthly Compliance Meetings/ discussions to help identify compliance related issues.
  • Serve as a pharmacy subject matter expert for operational and regulatory questions impacting the Brooks, KY site.
  • Communicate effectively with internal stakeholders regarding pharmacy performance, compliance matters, staffing needs, escalations, and process improvement opportunities.
  • Support client and manufacturer program requirements while ensuring all pharmacy activities remain compliant and patient-centered.
