About The Position

BILL is seeking a strategic, hands-on Senior Manager, People Business Partner to partner with a group of engineering leaders within our Technology organization. Reporting to the Director, People Business Partner, you will serve as the day-to-day People partner for your aligned leaders and teams, translating business priorities into practical people solutions that drive organizational effectiveness, strengthen engagement, and support BILL's next stage of growth.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of progressive HR/People experience, including experience as an HR Business Partner supporting senior leaders in a high-growth, fast-paced environment.
  • Experience supporting engineering, product, or other technical teams, ideally in a SaaS, fintech, or technology company.
  • Hands-on experience with performance and talent management, employee relations, org design, change management, and employee engagement.
  • Ability to coach leaders and managers with credibility, balancing business needs with employee experience and compliance.
  • Familiarity with engineering talent dynamics, such as technical career ladders, leveling, and retention in competitive talent markets.
  • A data-informed approach and comfort with people analytics and HR technology (Workday experience preferred).
  • Excellent communication, facilitation, and influencing skills, with the ability to build trust with leaders, managers, and employees.

Responsibilities

  • Act as the trusted People partner to a set of engineering leaders who report to the CTO, understanding their goals, team structures, and talent needs.
  • Support workforce planning and org design for your aligned teams, helping leaders structure teams to scale effectively.
  • Use data, insights, and external benchmarks to identify trends, risks, and opportunities, and bring clear recommendations to your leaders and the Director.
  • Partner with the Director to ensure your supported groups align with the broader Technology people strategy.
  • Drive core people processes with your client groups, including performance management, calibration, talent reviews, succession planning, promotions, and leveling, in partnership with COE teams.
  • Coach leaders and managers through org changes, performance concerns, team dynamics, and employee relations situations, providing balanced, scalable, and compliant guidance.
  • Partner with Employee Relations on complex cases and investigations, escalating appropriately and following through on resolution.
  • Build manager capability through coaching, office hours, and just-in-time guidance on core people practices.
  • Partner with Talent Acquisition and Total Rewards to support hiring, offers, compensation decisions, and leveling for technical roles.
  • Monitor engagement and retention signals within engineering teams, and work with leaders to build targeted action plans.
  • Support career development conversations and growth paths for engineers and engineering managers, in partnership with Learning & Organizational Development.
  • Work with People Shared Services, People Technology, and People Analytics to ensure accurate and timely delivery of core HR processes for your aligned groups.
  • Identify opportunities to simplify and improve people processes, leveraging Workday, analytics, and self-service tools.
  • Apply HR programs, policies, and practices consistently and compliantly while allowing for appropriate business nuance.
  • Champion BILL's values (Humble, Authentic, Passionate, Accountable, and Fun) by modeling inclusive leadership and supporting equitable practices across the employee lifecycle.
  • Support change initiatives within your client groups, ensuring clear communication and strong adoption of new programs and operating rhythms.
