Johnson & Johnson is hiring for a Senior Manager, Packaging Team Leader within the MedTech Procurement Team. This position can be located in Raritan, NJ, US. The Senior Manager, Packaging Team Leader will oversee a global team of category managers & SRMs responsible for developing and executing strategies across the primary packaging portfolio (Thermoforms, Tyvek & Films, Foils, etc.) and secondary packaging (Cartons, Corrugates, IFUs…) for MedTech Business Units (Surgery, EPNV, Vision). This leader will set a strategic direction, ensure alignment with corporate goals, and build a high-performing team that delivers profitability increase, innovation, resilience, cost optimization, and sustainability in packaging supply. Success in this role requires a customer-centric mindset, ensuring that internal stakeholders —including R&D, Operations, Supply Chain, Quality, and Marketing—are engaged as key customers. By understanding their priorities and translating them into procurement strategies, the leader will position Packaging Procurement as a trusted partner that enables product innovation, compliance, and commercial success.

Requirements

  • Master’s Degree or MBA preferred
  • At least 8 years of procurement or supply chain experience across fields such as manufacturing, operations, procurement, or distribution
  • Strong understanding of core procurement functions: Spend Management, Category Management, Sourcing, Supplier Management
  • Proven leadership, teamwork, and influencing skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Analytical mindset with problem-solving competence
  • Project management experience leading cross-functional initiatives
  • Business and financial competence, with negotiation expertise
  • Ability to communicate effectively across organizational levels
  • Proficiency in English required

Nice To Haves

  • Proven experience within Medical Devices or Healthcare is a plus
  • Proven experience in Packaging Procurement
  • Familiarity with regional and global regulatory and quality standards in healthcare packaging (ISO, FDA, MDR, UDI, serialization, PPWR etc.).
  • Certification: CPSM, CSCP, CPIM, PMP, or Six Sigma Green/Black Belt (preferred)
  • Knowledge of ERP, SAP, MRP systems, and Advanced Planning tools
  • Experience with Process Excellence and Six Sigma methodologies

Responsibilities

  • Sourcing Lead or support sourcing initiatives to identify the right supplier partners, Influence decisions, delivering ongoing value improvements while driving competitive advantage.
  • Develop spend analysis and bring together market intelligence in alignment with business goals.
  • Identify emerging needs within a specific area of focus and develop the vision, strategy and implementation plan that will optimally meet the long-range requirements of the business partners and deliver the maximum value for J&J
  • Develop and lead price and cost initiatives; Prepare and complete RFQs for medium to high complexity sourcing decisions; Conduct negotiations with suppliers.
  • Collaborate with supplier leadership to assure alignment of J&J’s objectives are met, including quality, reliability, innovation, and cost
  • Deliver on financial, service, reliability, quality, innovation, and growth commitments.
  • Build and maintain relationships throughout J&J that results in interactive dialogue on a broad range of perspectives and information critical to the development of efficient approaches and solutions.
  • Develop and/or support the category sourcing strategy for the defined portfolio through Business needs assessment, Market intelligence, Supplier evaluations and sourcing choices.
  • Understand long range requirements to ensure alignment; Develop and implement sourcing strategy.
  • Develop and lead or support supplier partnerships to drive performance delivery, risk mitigation, and value through supplier enabled innovation.
  • Cultivate and use strategic relationships with key business partners (e.g., Internal partners, supplier leadership) to craft, optimize, and diversify the supply base.
  • Develop innovative and balanced solutions to identify and mitigate risk, drive long-term, end-to-end value, and achieve unmet business needs.
  • Identify and pursue opportunities to develop supplier capabilities.
  • Conduct Business Review meetings with suppliers that include comprehensive supplier performance management and review.
  • Use procurement expertise and global business understanding to implement contracts.
  • Ensure that agreements and the manner they are performed meet business demands of all collaborators and are aligned with the organization’s overall procurement and business strategy.
  • Represent procurement in End-to-End Supply Chain initiatives of the manufacturing network, digital tools/technology adoption, and resiliency.
