About The Position

The Senior Manager, Offsite Energy Investments, leads strategic planning and management of Walmart’s renewable energy investment portfolio to support long-term sustainability goals. This role involves overseeing multi-gigawatt offsite renewable projects, conducting financial and operational analyses, and guiding risk management and optimization strategies. The position requires collaboration with cross-functional teams to enhance portfolio performance, negotiate power purchase agreements, and deliver comprehensive reporting to senior leadership. The role drives execution of capital investments aligned with corporate objectives, ensuring strong financial outcomes while advancing Walmart’s commitment to renewable energy and emissions reduction. About the team: The Offsite Energy Investments team drives Walmart’s clean energy initiatives by managing tax-advantaged investments and power purchase agreements in deregulated markets. Collaborating with developers, utilities, and internal partners, the team structures transactions to maximize federal tax credits and attract capital. Their efforts support new energy generation, enhance grid reliability, and reduce electricity costs. Through strategic portfolio management, financial analysis, and negotiation, the team advances Walmart’s energy strategy, delivering long-term financial value aligned with company goals while fostering continuous improvement and effective communication across stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business or related field and 2 years of experience in the renewable energy industry OR 4 years' experience in Finance, Business, renewable energy industry or related area.
  • Extensive experience in renewable energy project and portfolio management, including strategic planning and performance evaluation.
  • Strong financial analysis skills with proven ability to manage tax equity and capital investment portfolios.
  • Expertise in negotiating long-term power purchase agreements and managing operational risks.
  • Ability to lead cross-functional teams and communicate complex data to senior stakeholders effectively.
  • Demonstrated capability in forecasting renewable energy generation and financial outcomes to support decision-making.
  • Proficiency in developing and optimizing portfolio reporting and strategic investment plans.

Nice To Haves

  • 3+ years of experience in the renewable energy industry focused on origination, development, and/or financing of large-scale projects.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience operating in a large, global organization.
  • Understanding of both competitive and regulated energy markets.
  • Understanding of the renewable energy project development process and key drivers of project value.

Responsibilities

  • Define and execute long-term strategies to advance Walmart’s renewable energy and zero emissions goals.
  • Monitor and evaluate performance of a multi-GW offsite renewable energy portfolio, guiding risk management and optimization.
  • Lead financial and operational analysis of tax equity and other investment portfolios to ensure strong outcomes.
  • Manage forecasting and reporting to support budget management and strategic decision-making.
  • Support negotiation and execution of power purchase agreements and capital investments aligned with sustainability objectives.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to communicate performance and inform portfolio planning and improvements.
