SDS Senior Manager of Transportation Logistics

About The Position

Provides leadership, development, and direction to Department and Support Managers to ensure safe, compliant, and efficient planning and execution of transportation operations; strong support for drivers and delivery assistants; excellent service to stores; effective use of technology; sound financial and staffing management; and consistent execution of processes and SOPs, while driving continuous improvement and cross-functional collaboration across SDS. Lead centralized transportation logistics functions and coordinate logistics execution across multiple SDS locations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Logistics or business related field required
  • Minimum 7 years transportation, distribution, logistics, or supply chain operations experience required.
  • Minimum 5 years direct people leadership experience required
  • Valid driver’s license required

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience managing DOT/FMCSA compliance for a multi site transportation operation, including accident review governance, corrective action implementation, and ongoing compliance monitoring preferred
  • Previous experience leading multi-site or centralized operations preferred

Responsibilities

  • Maximize the development of internal talent through regular performance coaching, Strive performance conversations, supporting Manager IDPs, and presenting developmental opportunities
  • Monitor and assist Transportation Department Managers in daily operations, ensuring the safe, efficient, and dependable delivery of products to our customers that are compliant with all federal, state, local, and Sheetz Transportation regulations, policies, and procedures (DOT, CLI, SDS, Sheetz Inc)
  • Develop understanding of other SDS functional areas and collaborate with other department leaders on SDS strategic initiatives
  • Monitor annual expenses for assigned areas of responsibility and maintain adequate staffing levels to improve efficiency and meet customers’ needs
  • Develop, modify, and hold people accountable to all processes and SOPs; establish job expectations for Managers to assist in measuring accountability, and ensuring they are supporting team members and customers in a timely and efficient manner
  • Drive a culture of excellent customer service to our stores by ensuring effective communication, resolution of issues, and monitoring metrics.
  • Lead centralized transportation logistics functions across multiple SDS locations, directing cross facility planning, routing strategies, and logistics support to drive standardization, efficiency, and service consistency
  • Assist in technology projects to ensure successful launches. Serve as the functional owner for technology solutions for the Management team
  • Collaborate with the leaders in Transportation Support and Logistics to evaluate routing and Transportation call support for all SDS locations
  • Work with the Safety Professionals to coordinate accident reviews, evaluate hiring criteria, and maintain an uninterrupted hiring and driver training process.
