About The Position

This role is responsible for designing and standing up a Shared Operations Team that integrates capabilities across Surgical cross-functional groups, including Marketing, Sales, Medical Education, and Physician Relations. The position will assess the current landscape of operational teams, functions, and capabilities to identify opportunities for consolidation, standardization, and efficiency. The leader will architect and implement a streamlined operating model that maximizes resource bandwidth, enhances cross-functional alignment, and ensures consistent measurement of program performance. Through the application of process improvement methodologies (e.g., Lean, Six Sigma), this role will evaluate and re-engineer workflows, establish scalable processes, and define the capabilities required to support and sustain the Surgical business. Key responsibilities include leading cross-functional initiatives, developing and tracking performance metrics, conducting root cause analysis, aligning improvement efforts to business needs, and delivering data-driven insights to inform decision-making. The role also serves as a strategic advisor on operational excellence, leveraging best practices, cost-benefit analysis, and continuous improvement principles to elevate organizational effectiveness and product/program quality.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 7 years of relevant experience with 5+ years of managerial experience, or advanced degree with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience with 5+ years of managerial experience.
  • For Baccalaureate degrees earned outside of the United States, a degree that satisfies the requirements of 8 C.F.R. § 214.2(h)(4)(iii)(A) is required.
  • Requires broad management knowledge to lead project teams in one department.
  • Typically has mastery level knowledge and skills within a specific technical or professional discipline with broad understanding of other areas within the job function.
  • Roles below the Principal level require candidates to possess unrestricted U.S. work authorization at the time of hire and for the duration of employment.

Responsibilities

  • Plans, performs and implements process improvement initiatives (such as Lean or Six Sigma).
  • Diagrams and evaluates existing processes.
  • Organizes, leads and facilitates cross-functional project teams.
  • Develops metrics that provide data for process measurement, identifying indicators for future improvement opportunities.
  • Collects data to identify root cause of problems.
  • Measures performance against process requirements.
  • Aligns improvement to performance shortfalls.
  • Provides consultation on the use of re-engineering techniques to improve process performance and product quality.
  • May deliver presentations and training courses including measurement, analysis, improvement and control.
  • Surveys and analyzes best practices for techniques and processes.
  • Communicates team progress.
  • Performs cost and benefit analyses.
  • Accountability for mentoring, developing and coaching staff on meeting/exceeding performance expectations and defined objectives, providing leadership to staff ensuring the prioritization of strategic and department level initiatives to include defining performance goals and targets, conducting performance reviews, and staff 1:1s to guide performance management and employee development efforts and manage toward departmental goals.
  • Turns the department strategy into a commercial reality by developing, communicating and implementing business plans to achieve business results.
  • Initiates programs or projects based on identified business and / or tactical needs.
  • Develops new objectives, new operating policies, products, processes and standards in support of the job function strategy.
  • Communicates with internal and external customers and vendors concerning ongoing operations, programs or processes.
  • Influences across functions and businesses while balancing divergent objectives to gain cooperation of other parties.
  • Manages at least one (department, function, geography typically comprised of other People or Program managers and / or supervisors and experienced professionals.
  • Recommends strategies, goals and plans for a group.
