Position Overview The Global Payroll Director is a senior leadership role responsible for overseeing and managing the organization's global payroll operations. This position ensures timely, accurate, and compliant payroll processing for employees across multiple countries and regions. The Global Payroll Director collaborates with Finance, HR, and external partners to optimize payroll processes, maintain compliance with local regulations, and drive strategic payroll initiatives that support business objectives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
  • 10+ years of progressive payroll experience, including at least 5 years in a global payroll leadership role (US and India experience strongly preferred).
  • Extensive knowledge of international payroll practices, regulations, and tax laws.
  • Experience with Workday Payroll, Absence, and Timekeeping SKUs.
  • Demonstrated success in managing payroll teams across multiple countries and time zones.
  • Strong project management skills, with experience leading large-scale payroll initiatives.
  • Knowledge of SOX controls, GDPR, and audit processes.
  • Strategic thinking and the ability to align payroll operations with organizational goals.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • High attention to detail and strong analytical abilities.
  • Proven ability to drive process improvements and manage change in complex environments.
  • Strong ethical standards and commitment to confidentiality.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee end-to-end payroll processing for all international locations, ensuring timely and accurate payroll delivery in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a geographically dispersed payroll team. Set performance goals, conduct regular reviews, and support continuous professional development.
  • Ensure payroll processes adhere to country-specific labor laws, tax requirements, and organizational policies. Stay current on regulatory changes, and implement necessary process updates.
  • Identify and implement best practices and process enhancements to increase payroll accuracy, efficiency, and automation across all regions.
  • Manage relationships with third-party payroll providers, technology vendors, and consultants. Oversee vendor selection, contract negotiation, and performance monitoring.
  • Oversee internal and external payroll audits, ensuring data integrity and compliance. Prepare and present comprehensive payroll reports and analytics to executive leadership.
  • Partner with HR, Finance, Legal, and IT teams to ensure seamless integration of payroll with other business processes and systems.
  • Lead and participate in global payroll projects, including system implementations, mergers and acquisitions, and process standardization initiatives.
  • Resolve complex payroll issues and inquiries from employees and management, delivering exceptional service and communication.
