Senior Manager of Equipment Engineering

Coreshell TechnologiesSan Leandro, CA
$160,000 - $185,000Onsite

About The Position

Coreshell's metallurgical Silicon anode technology delivers high capacity, fast-charging, and superior safety. Our low-cost Silicon-dominant batteries have higher energy density, superior intrinsic thermal safety, and significantly lower cost/kWh compared to current LIBs. Coreshell's Si anode material is lower than the cost of graphite and utilizes the largest abundant critical mineral supply in the US and Europe. We strive to transform the global energy and transportation market by enabling cost effective and secure domestic battery supply. As the Senior Manager of Equipment Engineering, you will lead the equipment engineering function to support both our current pilot operations and our future high-volume manufacturing expansion. You will be responsible for two critical phases: maximizing the uptime and capability of our existing 4MWh pilot line, and leading the equipment planning, vendor sourcing, and facility layout design for our upcoming 100MWh+ production line (covering electrode, assembly, and formation).

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Mechanical or Electrical engineering is a plus).
  • 5+ years of experience in manufacturing equipment engineering (Lithium-ion battery industry highly preferred).
  • Direct experience launching greenfield factories, executing FAT/SAT, and managing equipment scaling programs.
  • Proven experience in designing equipment technical specifications based on final product and process requirements.
  • Experience in equipment maintenance frameworks (PM, CBM, BM) and systematic tools like FDC, MES, or other smart factory systems.
  • Proficiency in CAD software (AutoCAD, SolidWorks) for factory layout.
  • Familiarity with US safety regulations (OSHA, UL, AHJ codes) and operator health standards.
  • A proactive "hands-on" troubleshooter who leads from the shop floor.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills to manage global equipment suppliers and extract maximum support.

Responsibilities

  • Establish and oversee structured Preventive, and Breakdown Maintenance for the 4MWh pilot line to ensure minimal equipment downtime.
  • Manage relationships with equipment vendors, driving them to provide maximum technical and troubleshooting support.
  • Apply advanced smart factory technologies, such as Fault Detection and Classification (FDC), to monitor equipment health and predict failures.
  • Integrate essential equipment-side solutions including Manufacturing Execution System (MES) connectivity to track production data.
  • Identify hardware bottlenecks and implement engineering modifications to improve OEE, yield, and throughput on the 4MWh line.
  • Calculate and plan baseline equipment CAPA based on target cell specifications for the 100MWh+ production line.
  • Design the comprehensive plant layout for the 100MWh+ line, including material flow, automated equipment placement, and necessary environmental/dry room facilities.
  • Build a robust global vendor pool for electrode, assembly, and formation/aging equipment.
  • Draft highly detailed equipment technical specifications and Request for Quotes (RFQs) to vendors.
  • Manage the bidding process, conduct rigorous technical comparisons between different equipment vendors, and lead global Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and Site Acceptance Testing (SAT).
  • Lead the physical installation and commissioning of all machinery for the 100MWh+ line.
  • Ensure strict compliance with US occupational health and safety standards (e.g., OSHA, UL field evaluations, and Local AHJ codes) to guarantee a safe working environment for operators.
  • Work closely with cell development, production team, and process technology team to align the equipment expansion roadmap with Coreshell’s strategic commercialization timelines.
  • Actively collaborate with the process technology team and translate new process requirements into reliable equipment hardware modifications.
