Senior Manager, IT

About The Position

As Senior Manager of IT, you’ll lead the group responsible for every technology touchpoint at TFD — from the laptop in a new hire’s hands on day one to the systems and integrations that connect our business end-to-end. You’ll own the IT roadmap, manage and grow the group that delivers it, and lead a hands-on shift from reactive IT support to engineered solutions: building automations and integrations that enable departments across TFD operate independently. Reporting directly into our Director of Internal Systems & Cyber - you’ll be a deeply technical leader who sets the bar for what excellent IT looks like at a growing, mission-driven company. This is an opportunity for a leader who is excited to be both hands-on building technical solutions and leading an IT function.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of experience working with and managing IT teams, and overseeing enterprise technology initiatives.
  • You’ve led an IT team at a growing company, and you’ve built an awareness for how IT can be a strong partner across the business. Invisibility is not the end goal for IT.
  • You’re technically credible end-to-end: you can debate identity and SSO architecture, sketch an integration on a whiteboard, and write or code-review a Python script with the same confidence.
  • You are an engineer. When you see manual work, your instinct is to build a system that eliminates it. You’ve personally built automations and integrations across SaaS platforms using scripts or iPaaS tools, and led the implementation and onboarding of new tools across a business.
  • You have experience managing and coaching IT teammates: hiring well, developing the people on your team, and consistently setting and maintaining high expectations.
  • You set and held SLAs. You define the metrics that matter, publish them, and use them to drive real improvement across your group.
  • You operate fluently across the modern IT stack: Google Workspace in a Mac environment, Okta, MDM tooling (Jamf, Kandji, or Intune), Slack, Zoom, networking (Meraki or similar), endpoint security, and a ticketing platform you’ve actually used to manage a team.
  • You have experience leveraging enterprise-grade AI tools both for personal productivity and to drive operational efficiency and innovation across an organization.
  • You’re a strong partner across the business, comfortable translating technology needs into business outcomes and making clean build-vs-buy calls.
  • You’re comfortable in an in-office, mission-driven culture. TFD’s offices and events are part of how we work, and you want to be in the room to support the team and the business. Able to travel several times each year to visit and support other TFD offices.
  • You love dogs.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the enterprise IT strategy, administration, implementation, and selection of corporate hardware, software, and SaaS tooling. Proactively partner across Finance, Humans, Engineering, Facilities, Customer Care, and other groups on company-wide deployments and changes.
  • Own the IT roadmap, prioritizing investments against the needs of a rapidly scaling business and reporting progress cross-functionally.
  • Manage, mentor, and grow the members of IT — including overseeing their daily responsibilities, goal-setting and coaching the group on their growth and development to set them up for long-term success.
  • Lead the shift from reactive IT support to engineered solutions: build and oversee automation, API-based integrations, and internal tooling that eliminate repetitive work (leveraging AI) and let teams across TFD operate independently of IT for day-to-day processes.
  • Serve as TFD’s hands-on technical expert on IT systems, networking, IAM, endpoint management, and SaaS architecture — the person speaking to strategy and able to be in the details when needed.
  • Create standardization and scalability across the function - establishing SLAs for tickets and requests using standardized ticketing tooling, and report the metrics that speak to TFD’s improved IT experience.
  • Drive the technology, networking, and AV experience across every TFD office, ensuring our spaces support work, meetings, and events without friction. Lead the technical execution of all in-person TFD events both in-office and off-site.
  • Own the technical onboarding and offboarding experience for every employee and contractor, ensuring every new teammate is set up for success on day one and every departure is handled cleanly and securely.
  • Identify cost savings and service improvements through effective vendor and contract management.
  • Maintain technical and process standards and documentation, ensuring everything is maintainable, secure, well-understood and adopted.
