Requirements

  • 8+ years of experience in international tax compliance and/or planning
  • CPA, JD, or EA
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college/university
  • Experience reviewing Forms 1040 and 1040-NR that typically include foreign filing attachments and pass-through K-1/K-3 reporting
  • 1+ years of supervisory experience

Nice To Haves

  • Experience using OIT, GoSystems and/or CCH Axcess tax software
  • Knowledge of individual and/or partnership taxation
  • Fundamental knowledge of a broad range of US international tax rules and provisions, including Subpart F, GILTI, FTC, PFICs, WHT, FIRPTA, PTI, expatriation (§877A), and the foreign trust and foreign gift regimes
  • Comprehensive understanding of international tax reporting obligations, including Forms 1040-NR, 1116, 5471, 8865, 8858, 8621, 8938, 8992, 3520, 3520-A, 8854, 8833, and FinCEN Form 114 (FBAR)
  • Experience with RIA Checkpoint and BNA

Responsibilities

  • Review of international tax compliance forms and working with a dedicated international tax team
  • Prepare analysis and computations for Subpart F, GILTI, PFIC, PTEP, and FTC, including §962 elections and treaty-based positions
  • Collaborate with the Private Client Services and Trust & Estate groups on cross-border matters for individuals and families with global holdings and activities
  • Develop tax planning opportunities arising from inbound and outbound cross-border transactions and activities
  • Develop models illustrating individuals' cross-border tax attributes, foreign tax credit positions, and overall US tax exposure
  • Manage day-to-day interactions with clients and ensure the completion of both tax compliance and advisory projects
  • Supervise and train staff
  • Share relevant tax thought leadership and draft tax alerts
  • Stay current with Tax Reform and comprehend the new regulations and rulings
