About The Position

Our client is seeking a seasoned Senior Manager of Interconnection Services to lead the full lifecycle of generator interconnection for new renewable and conventional generation projects. In this high-impact role, you will serve as a regional technical authority, collaborating with internal development teams and external entities—including Regional Transmission Organizations (RTOs), Independent System Operators (ISOs), Transmission Providers, and Transmission Owners—to evaluate interconnection standards, study practices, siting feasibility, system impact studies, and Large Generator Interconnection Agreements (LGIAs). This is a 12-month contract opportunity offering remote or hybrid flexibility, with a preference for candidates near Juno Beach, FL. You will drive the successful execution of new generating asset growth by providing expert technical analysis and strategic negotiation support across the interconnection process.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a closely related field.
  • 8+ years of progressive industry experience in transmission planning, generator interconnection, or a related power systems discipline.
  • Deep expertise in steady-state thermal/voltage analysis, short-circuit analysis, and transient stability analysis using industry-standard tools such as PowerGEM, TARA, PSS/E, and ASPEN, including programming and automation.
  • Comprehensive understanding of transmission planning principles, NERC reliability standards, and the planning processes within RTOs/ISOs and Transmission Providers.
  • Strong grasp of transmission policy, regulatory issues, and cost allocation methodologies related to generator interconnection.
  • Proven ability to communicate complex technical information succinctly to external stakeholders and all levels of management.
  • Valid driver's license with no alcohol- or drug-related driving offenses within the previous five years and no current suspension or restriction (driving is required as part of position duties).

Responsibilities

  • Conduct prospecting interconnection analyses using PowerGEM, TARA, PSS/E, and ASPEN, including configuring and automating injection study systems to identify optimal generator placement.
  • Manage the full generator interconnection application process, ensuring strict compliance with regulatory requirements, tariffs, and timelines.
  • Perform network upgrade cost estimates and critically verify System Impact and Facility Study results to challenge assumptions and drive favorable outcomes.
  • Lead negotiations with Transmission Providers and Transmission Owners to secure reasonable interconnection agreements and alternative low-cost network upgrade solutions.
  • Execute Day One analyses to minimize curtailment by optimizing network upgrade construction scheduling and supporting Limited Operation Interconnection Service studies.
  • Coordinate cross-functionally with internal stakeholders and external partners—including ISO/RTOs, developers, and utility companies—to facilitate seamless interconnections.
