About The Position

To confirm all Dunkin’, Baskin Robbins, Arby’s, and Jimmy John’s products and materials comply with current federal and local regulations for domestic and international business. Materials may include nutrition calculations, menu-board labeling, websites and advertising components. To monitor activity in the regulatory and competitive landscape informing all key stakeholders on its impact to the brands and developing next steps for each brand aligning with brand strategies. Note: Future state, this role will manage Regulatory Compliance & Nutrition enterprise wide for Inspire. This position sits within our Atlanta based Global Support Center with an expectation to be onsite 80% of the time.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science; Nutrition degree preferred
  • 7 or more years of experience in quality assurance or related food industry role managing food product information such as nutritional information and ingredient labeling.
  • 7 or more years of experience in nutrition and regulatory affairs to include: all aspects of food labeling, claims, generation of nutrition facts panels and ingredient statements and product packaging reviews.
  • 3+ years of supervisory experience.
  • Subject matter expert in nutrition, nutritional value, ingredient statements, allergen disclosures, claim compliance.
  • Subject matter expert in review of retail food packaging for compliance with FDA Code of Federal Regulation requirements.
  • Subject matter expert with the FDA Code of Federal Regulations pertaining to food and food manufacturing.
  • Proficient understanding of the USDA Dietary Guidelines.
  • Knowledge of and experience with local health departments and researching local food codes.
  • Proficient with nutrition software such as ESHA Genesis.
  • Industry-related training coursework/seminars (i.e. AIB Labeling, Keller & Heckman Food Law, etc.) required.

Responsibilities

  • Manages and develops systems and processes to assure compliance with current and future US and International regulations and draft guidance documents as well as industry trends.
  • Monitors regulations to keep technical information current and to provide guidance to support groups as required and needed with product R&D.
  • Develops and manages systems and processes to provide nutritional information for product specifications, retail labeling and consumer information assuring compliance with current federal and local regulations.
  • Develops and manages systems and processes for review, approval, dissemination and retention of critical and proprietary documentation related advertising materials.
  • Generates and disseminates key regulatory and health/wellness related presentations and/or related informational updates (i.e. newsletters) for cross-functional team awareness.
  • Manages the creation and execution of all related documentation for the brands nutrition criteria.
  • Manages dissemination of information to key cross-functional team members.
  • Utilizes information to provide menu guidance for core optimization and new product development.
  • Tracks progress through report card quarterly updates.
  • Supports relationship with external regulatory consultants and NRA Nutrition Expert Exchange sub-group for nutrition/policy related matters.
  • Participates in internal Inspire Brands Food Policy Working Group as regulatory compliance/nutrition representative for Dunkin’, Baskin Robbins, Arby’s, and Jimmy John’s.
  • Manages the review of all retail packaging and labels for associated brands and related channel market business.
  • Participate in the initiation and planning phases by gathering project data and requirements and providing input on project activities and timing.
  • Utilize project management tools and disciplines to complete project assignments and meet deadlines.
  • Help identify and resolve project–related risks and issues.
  • Participate in the evaluation of the project by giving input for post-project evaluations and lessons learned.
