About The Position

This role involves leading and managing software development activities from detailed requirements development through test and certification. The Senior Manager will lead a team of Engineers in a complex avionics department, responsible for design, test, and certification. Key responsibilities include program performance for cognizant projects, tactical execution of day-to-day operations, and ensuring compliance with development processes and standard work requirements. The role also involves assigning technical resources, selecting, onboarding, and training new team members, and providing technical coaching. The manager will approve work scope for their assigned portion of the overall program, serve as the primary engineering focal point to customers, and actively address employee performance and development issues. Additionally, they will identify necessary staff, facilities, and equipment for successful project execution. This position will supervise 16 reports, including various levels of Software and Systems Engineers, as well as Co-Op Software Engineers.

Requirements

  • Must possess at least a bachelor’s degree or its equivalent in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or a related field and 10 years of progressive experience as a Software Engineer or related role in the Aerospace/Defense Industry.
  • In the alternative, at least a master’s degree or its equivalent in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or a related field and 7 years of experience as a Software Engineer or related role in the Aerospace/Defense Industry would be acceptable.
  • Must possess at least 4 years of experience with DO-178C certification.
  • Must possess at least 4 years of experience leading or contributing to avionics systems/software life-cycle activities, including requirements, architecture, design, model-based development, coding, integration, verification and validation, and system testing.
  • Must possess at least 4 years of experience working in or leading teams developing real-time embedded software applications using high-level programming languages such as C or C++.
  • Must possess at least 3 years of experience in project planning and execution leadership for moderate- to large-sized teams, delivering on cost, schedule, scope, and quality commitments.
  • Non-US Person - Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without the company’s immigration sponsorship now or in the future.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage software development activities from detailed requirements development through test and certification.

  • Identify the necessary staff, facilities and equipment needed for successful execution of projects.
  • Supervise 16 reports, including Senior Engineer, Software Engineering; Senior Principal Engineer, Software Engineering; Principal Engineer, Software Engineering, Co-Op Software Engineering; Principal Engineer, Software Engineering; Engineer I, Software Engineering; Engineer II, Software Engineering; and Principal Engineer, Systems Engineering.
