Senior Manager-Finance Operations & Systems

Tideworks Technology•Seattle, WA
•Onsite

About The Position

The Senior Manager, Finance Operations & Systems reports directly to the Chief Financial Officer and serves as Tideworks Technology’s hands-on finance transformation and systems leader. This is an individual-contributor role at launch, responsible for building and operating a scalable Finance technology, data, reporting, and process environment while leading Tideworks’ transition from IFS to NetSuite. The role is Tideworks’ internal Finance product owner for NetSuite and the primary bridge among Finance, IT, the implementation partner, and specialist vendors. It owns functional requirements, process-design coordination, Finance data governance, migration planning and validation, user acceptance testing, cutover, post-go-live stabilization, release management, and continuous improvement. Finance process owners approve accounting and operational requirements; IT owns infrastructure, identity, cybersecurity, and technical standards; implementation partners configure and build solutions. This role coordinates the operating model and ensures solutions are controlled, supportable, and fit for Tideworks. The position partners closely with the Corporate Controller, Assistant Controller, Revenue & Finance Operations Manager, Revenue Accounting Lead, Director of FP&A, and business leaders. It is a senior, hands-on individual-contributor role that influences cross-functional stakeholders without formal reporting authority. The role is expected to work on-site at least three days per week in Seattle if local, subject to business requirements. Periodic extended hours may be required during design cycles, testing, mock conversions, cutover, month-end close, and post-go-live stabilization.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Information Systems, Business, or a related discipline.
  • 8+ years of progressive finance systems, finance transformation, ERP implementation, finance operations, accounting systems, or related experience, including ownership of significant cross-functional initiatives.
  • Hands-on experience leading or materially supporting at least one full-cycle ERP implementation, preferably NetSuite, from requirements and design through data migration, UAT, cutover, and stabilization.
  • Strong understanding of core Finance processes, including GL and close, AP/P2P, AR/order-to-cash, billing, revenue accounting, fixed assets, intercompany, treasury, tax, projects, payroll interfaces, and financial reporting.
  • Demonstrated experience with data migration, reconciliations, master data, integrations, role-based access, segregation of duties, change control, and audit support.
  • Ability to manage implementation partners and specialist vendors, challenge proposed designs, drive decisions, and maintain accountability for scope, quality, timeline, and knowledge transfer.
  • Strong project-management, process-design, documentation, analytical, and stakeholder-management skills, with the ability to operate strategically and execute detailed work.
  • Ability to succeed as a senior individual contributor in a lean, PE-backed, fast-paced environment with limited administrative support and significant cross-functional influence.

Nice To Haves

  • CPA, CMA, MBA, PMP, or relevant ERP certification.
  • NetSuite implementation and post-go-live administration experience, including financials, SuiteProjects/project accounting, revenue management, fixed assets, bank reconciliation, approvals, roles and permissions, and reporting.
  • Experience integrating NetSuite with IBM Planning Analytics/TM1, Microsoft Project Operations or other PSA/project tools, CRM/billing platforms, Avalara, Kyriba, Concur, payroll/PEO providers, banks, Snowflake, or Power BI.
  • Experience in software, SaaS, enterprise technology, or technology-enabled services with recurring revenue and professional-services operations.
  • Experience with carve-outs, TSA exits, standalone-company setup, private-equity ownership, multi-entity/international operations, or rapid finance transformation.
  • Working knowledge of financial controls, audit requirements, data governance, and system security concepts; SQL, analytics, or integration fluency is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as Tideworks’ internal Finance lead and NetSuite product owner through discovery, scope, design, configuration review, testing, cutover, stabilization, and transition to steady-state administration.
  • Coordinate Finance workstreams across record-to-report, procure-to-pay, order-to-cash, revenue accounting, fixed assets, intercompany, projects, treasury, tax, payroll/benefits accounting, and management reporting.
  • Translate Finance requirements into process designs, user stories, configuration decisions, acceptance criteria, control requirements, and documented decisions.
  • Maintain the integrated Finance implementation plan, decision log, risk and issue log, dependency tracking, resource plan, and readiness dashboard; promptly escalate risks involving scope, timeline, capacity, quality, or controls.
  • Hold implementation partners and specialist vendors accountable for deliverables, documentation, defect resolution, knowledge transfer, and sustainable support.
  • Own the Finance data-migration framework from IFS to NetSuite, including data inventory, mapping, cleansing, conversion rules, mock loads, control totals, reconciliation, sign-offs, and historical-data retention.
  • Coordinate validation of opening balances, GL detail, AP and AR, deferred revenue, contract assets, project WIP, fixed assets, intercompany, tax and bank balances, customer/vendor masters, and other financial data.
  • Establish Finance master-data governance for chart of accounts, entities, departments, locations, projects, customers, vendors, items, tax codes, approval hierarchies, and reporting dimensions.
  • Ensure conversion evidence, reconciliation procedures, exceptions, approvals, and audit trails are complete and retained.
  • Design and coordinate end-to-end UAT across Finance and connected systems, including scenarios, data, scripts, expected results, role-based access, defect triage, retesting, evidence, and business-owner approvals.
  • Coordinate mock conversions, financial-close simulations, bank-reconciliation testing, reporting validation, and operational-readiness exercises before go-live.
  • Develop and manage the Finance cutover plan, including blackout activities, opening balances, interface activation, user access, reporting readiness, contingency procedures, and go/no-go criteria.
  • Lead Finance hypercare following go-live, track stabilization metrics and defects, and ensure ownership transfers to Tideworks personnel with complete documentation.
  • Own the Finance systems roadmap and functional governance across NetSuite, IBM Planning Analytics/TM1, Microsoft Project Operations, Bank of America connectivity, payroll/PEO platforms, Avalara, Kyriba, Concur, CRM/billing interfaces, Snowflake, and related reporting tools.
  • Partner with IT on integration architecture, identity and access management, environments, cybersecurity, monitoring, and decommissioning while retaining Finance ownership of business requirements and data acceptance.
  • Coordinate specialist vendors and define accountable owners for each interface, control, failure procedure, reconciliation, and support process.
  • Design and administer controlled roles, permissions, approval workflows, segregation-of-duties rules, access reviews, change-management procedures, and system-related audit evidence.
  • Establish incident, enhancement, release, and change-prioritization processes that balance operational continuity, controls, user needs, and total cost of ownership.
  • Partner with FP&A and Controllership to design reliable financial and management reporting structures, dimensional hierarchies, reconciliations, KPI definitions, and source-of-truth rules.
  • Coordinate Finance data flows into Snowflake, Power BI, TM1, or comparable platforms, ensuring outputs reconcile to NetSuite and approved financial definitions.
  • Develop and maintain data-quality checks, exception reports, lineage documentation, report inventories, ownership, certification, and controlled distribution.
  • Reduce manual spreadsheet dependency through repeatable integrations, governed data sets, standardized reports, workflow automation, and transparent controls.
  • Map and standardize current- and future-state Finance processes, responsibilities, handoffs, controls, service levels, and operating calendars.
  • Identify opportunities to simplify, automate, and strengthen practices across close, AP/P2P, AR/billing/collections, revenue, treasury, payroll/benefits accounting, tax, planning, and reporting.
  • Own Finance systems vendor administration, license and user reviews, support model, enhancement backlog, documentation library, and related budget inputs.
  • Develop training, job aids, SOPs, and role-based onboarding to enable Finance users to operate systems correctly and independently.
  • Establish measurable service and adoption metrics, including defect aging, interface failures, reconciliation exceptions, close impact, ticket resolution, user adoption, and process cycle times.
  • Personally drive planning, documentation, analysis, testing coordination, issue resolution, and stakeholder communication as a senior, hands-on individual contributor.
  • Influence Finance, IT, HR, Sales, Professional Services, Legal, Procurement, external advisors, and implementation partners without relying on formal reporting authority.
  • Facilitate design and decision sessions, summarize trade-offs, document decisions, and translate technical and accounting issues into clear business implications.
  • Maintain disciplined governance while remaining pragmatic, responsive, and focused on business continuity and adoption.
