About The Position

This role serves as the financial leader for an assigned Therapeutic Area, partnering closely with commercial and functional leaders to develop strategy, guide investments, and deliver outcomes that matter. The position is part of a high-performing, digitally savvy team that brings clarity to complexity and speed to decision-making. Utilizing modern tools and rigorous analytics, the role connects brand strategy to financial results, influences resource allocation, and prepares the business for future challenges. The individual will lead a full P&L and translate financial insight into decisions that accelerate growth and improve patient impact across Canada.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a relevant Business subject area.
  • 8+ years progressive experience in finance and/or accounting with a minimum of 3 years in a CPG/Pharmaceutical environment (or equivalent).
  • Extensive experience fostering and maintaining internal stakeholder relationships and management; credibility at senior executive levels.
  • Ability to engage cross-functional working groups and teams.
  • Strong planning and systematic thinking, including project management and budgeting; independent problem solver able to resolve conflict and sophisticated problems.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and influencing abilities; excellent written English and enhanced presentation skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Solid understanding of the Canadian biopharmaceutical or related industry.
  • Prior exposure to SAP or similar ERPs.
  • Strong curiosity about data automation and visualization (eg. PowerBI).
  • CPA, CA, CMA, and/or MBA is preferred.
  • Experience in auditing positions in an audit or finance consultancy company.
  • Project management experience.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the end-to-end P&L for the assigned Therapeutic Area, ensuring revenue and expense accuracy, gross-to-net integrity, and profitability; drive actions to deliver targets.
  • Translate brand and functional strategies into financial implications and actionable recommendations; serve as a trusted advisor to senior leaders.
  • Lead the annual budget and in-year updates with sound assumptions, documented drivers, and timely submissions aligned to governance.
  • Run month-end activities and produce clear, driver-based variance commentary across the full P&L.
  • Challenge spending plans, identify efficiencies, and reallocate to high-impact initiatives while maintaining strong compliance and controls.
  • Assess price/volume/mix, gross-to-net impacts, investment returns, and brand/competitor dynamics to advise portfolio choices.
  • Proactively surface risks and opportunities, quantify P&L impacts, and support mitigation or bring together plans with clear owners and timelines.
  • Build and review reasons for major initiatives, articulating benefits, costs, trade-offs, P&L impact, and post-implementation tracking.
  • Foster financial literacy and effective decision forums; communicate succinctly with executive leaders and cross-functional teams.
  • Partner with the Finance Director to standardize processes, strengthen data integrity, and streamline reporting cycles and controls.
