The Environmental Effects Engineering organization is looking for a candidate to fill a Senior Engineering Manager position in Cedar Rapids Iowa. This position will lead a team of approximately 15 bargaining unit test technicians and nuclear/EMI test engineers performing production qualification testing.

Requirements

Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 10 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 7 years of experience
Ability to obtain a US Department of Defense (DoD) security clearance.
Prior EMI, Nuclear Engineering, or Lab Management experience
Experience in bargaining unit management and aerospace product qualification testing.

Responsibilities

Providing leadership, guidance, hiring, and mentoring to new engineers and technicians.
Prepare/deliver performance reviews, provide coaching/mentoring, assist in career development, plan salaries, reward and recognize individuals, and manage staff performance, as needed.
Identifying the necessary staff, facilities, and equipment for the successful execution of projects.
Adherence to capital and operating budgets, schedules, work plans and performance requirements.
Planning and budgeting for the acquisition of test equipment.
Leading a cross functional team in the qualification testing of aerospace products.
Overall successful project execution and oversight to ensure development teams have properly planned, set up project schedules, identified, hired and trained staff for project execution, and provide oversight that the team executes to the established schedule and cost objectives.
Supporting pursuit activities, including bids and proposals.
Identifying and tracking work packages that can be worked by subcontract companies.
Assigns technical resources to work assignments (workforce allocation).
Ensures compliance to development processes and standard work requirements.
Actively addresses employee performance and development issues.
Performance review and career development planning for individual contributors.
Salary planning.
Development and technical coaching/mentoring of staff.
On-boarding and assimilation of new hires.
Working with bargaining unit technicians and related labor relations rules.
