Senior Manager, Engineering
About The Position
Dark Matter Technologies is seeking an experienced, strategic Senior Manager, Engineering to lead multiple software engineering teams delivering scalable, secure mortgage technology solutions. The role provides organizational leadership across product and platform teams, aligning engineering execution with product strategy and business objectives. It focuses on developing engineering leaders, improving organizational effectiveness, driving technical excellence, and delivering strategic initiatives. The Senior Manager will lead engineering strategies and roadmaps, manage Engineers and senior technical leaders, and partner with business and technology leaders across Architecture, Product Management, QA, DevOps, and Security. The role also guides modernization, cloud adoption, platform engineering, and technical debt reduction, while promoting secure, reliable, and efficient engineering practices. The position is expected to work onsite at the Sharon, Pennsylvania, or Jacksonville, Florida, office three days per week. During the first 12 months, success includes delivering strategic roadmaps, improving productivity and quality, developing engineering leaders, advancing modernization, strengthening operational reliability and customer outcomes, improving engagement and retention, and establishing performance metrics and accountability.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- 10+ years of software engineering experience.
- 5+ years of engineering leadership experience, including management of managers and/or multiple engineering teams.
- Demonstrated success leading enterprise software development organizations.
- Strong understanding of software architecture, SDLC methodologies, Agile delivery models, and modern engineering practices.
- Experience embracing AI and incorporating it into the SDLC.
- Experience leading large-scale technology initiatives and cross-functional programs.
- Strong strategic thinking, decision-making, and organizational leadership skills.
- Excellent communication and executive stakeholder management abilities.
Nice To Haves
- Experience in mortgage technology, lending, fintech, banking, or regulated industries.
- Experience with Microsoft .NET, C#, Angular, AWS, cloud-native architectures, distributed systems, and platform modernization initiatives.
- Experience managing geographically distributed engineering teams.
- Experience overseeing product development in SaaS or enterprise software organizations.
- Strong understanding of DevOps, CI/CD, AI-assisted development, and engineering productivity practices.
Responsibilities
- Lead multiple engineering teams responsible for product development, platform initiatives, and technology modernization.
- Develop and execute engineering strategies aligned with company objectives and product roadmaps.

- Partner with senior business and technology leaders to prioritize investments and strategic initiatives.
- Directly manage Engineers and senior technical leaders.
- Coach, mentor, and develop engineering leadership talent.
- Support recruiting strategies and hiring activities to ensure organizational growth and capability.
- Foster employee engagement, retention, and professional development.
- Ensure successful execution of engineering roadmaps across multiple teams and product lines.
- Monitor delivery commitments, resource allocation, dependencies, and project risks.
- Drive predictable release schedules and continuous improvement of delivery processes.
- Remove organizational obstacles that affect engineering productivity and effectiveness.
- Measure and improve key engineering performance indicators.
- Partner with Architecture, Product Management, QA, DevOps, and Security leaders to define long-term technology strategies.
- Guide modernization initiatives, cloud adoption, platform engineering efforts, and technical debt reduction programs.
- Promote engineering best practices in automation, observability, security, scalability, and reliability.
- Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend investments that improve business outcomes.
