About The Position

The Senior Domestic Income Tax Manager is responsible for supporting the Senior Director of Income Tax in managing the company’s federal, state, and local income tax compliance and provision processes. This role involves overseeing income tax returns, estimates, extensions, and supporting workpapers; managing the monthly tax provision and related tax accounting; responding to tax notices and audits; and supporting tax process improvements and the integration of newly acquired entities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or Tax.
  • 10+ years of corporate income tax experience with a focus on federal and state compliance and tax provisions.
  • Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local income tax compliance and ASC 740 tax accounting.
  • Experience with ONESOURCE Tax Provision software and ERP systems.
  • Proven ability to lead, manage, and mentor tax staff.
  • Ability to communicate tax matters clearly to tax and non-tax stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical, critical thinking, and research skills.
  • Experience working cross-functionally and with outside tax advisors and preparers.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in taxation preferred.
  • Active CPA preferred.
  • Public accounting experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the monthly tax provision and related journal entry and prepare and review ASC 740 workpapers and supporting documentation, including current and deferred tax calculations and footnote disclosures.
  • Prepare and review federal, state, and local income tax returns and supporting workpapers, and ensure related estimates, extensions, and returns are prepared and filed timely and accurately.
  • Act as Department point person to manage the process between internal stakeholder, advisors and audit firm. Detail involvement in tax accounting issues and systems process improvement as needed.
  • Research federal, state, and local income tax issues, monitor new tax legislation, and assess its impact on the company.
  • Respond to tax notices and assist with federal, state, and local income tax audits.
  • Reconcile income tax accounts monthly and prepare tax depreciation schedules for assigned entities.
  • Assist with the planning, implementation, and ongoing use of ONESOURCE Tax Provision software, and identify best practices and process improvement opportunities for income tax return and tax provision processes.
  • Assist with the tax integration of newly acquired entities.
  • Manage and mentor a team of two to three tax professionals; collaborate with other departments and provide tax support as needed; work with external tax professionals and vendors on tax provision, financial statement reporting, and tax return preparation and filing; and assist in providing state annual report information to the Legal team.
