About The Position

The Advanced Operations Technology (AOT) organization is seeking an experienced Senior Manager, Digital Factory, to lead the strategy, architecture, and implementation of digital manufacturing technologies across its solid rocket motor manufacturing enterprise. The role owns and serves as the subject matter authority for Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT), Operational Technology (OT) infrastructure and architecture, Auto-ID systems, manufacturing technology visualization, KPI frameworks, AI and machine learning tools, and data-driven optimization of manufacturing processes and automation equipment performance. Working across manufacturing operations, information technology, and advanced engineering, this leader will build a connected and efficient factory ecosystem and define and execute a multi-year digital factory roadmap for real-time visibility, predictive analytics, and continuous improvement across manufacturing sites. The role reports to the Director of Advanced Operations Technology and collaborates with the AOT Chief Engineer, automation engineering teams, IT/OT leadership, program managers, and site operations leadership. Travel is 10%. The role requires the ability to obtain a U.S. secret security clearance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree and at least 12 years of digital manufacturing, OT/IIoT systems, or manufacturing technology experience; alternatively, a graduate degree and at least 10 years of such experience; or, in lieu of a degree, at least 16 years of such experience.
  • At least 5 years of experience designing, deploying, and sustaining IIoT platforms and OT network architectures in a manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to obtain a U.S. secret security clearance.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Systems Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Computer Science, or Information Technology.
  • Experience leading and managing a team of digital, OT, or manufacturing technology engineers.
  • Experience with manufacturing execution systems (MES) and integration with shop-floor equipment and enterprise systems.
  • Experience with OT/IT convergence, including integration of shop-floor systems such as SCADA, PLC, DCS, and Historians with enterprise systems such as ERP and MES.
  • Experience developing and implementing KPI frameworks and manufacturing performance dashboards.
  • Experience with data acquisition, edge computing, and industrial networking protocols such as OPC-UA, MQTT, Modbus, and EtherNet/IP.
  • Experience developing statements of work, functional requirements specifications, and technology roadmap documents.
  • Experience with Auto-ID technologies, including RFID, barcode systems, and manufacturing traceability platforms.
  • Familiarity with OT cybersecurity frameworks such as NIST SP 800-82, IEC 62443, and CMMC.
  • Experience with data visualization and business intelligence platforms such as IGNITION and Power BI.
  • Experience with cloud and hybrid cloud platforms for industrial data.
  • Experience in project management.
  • Experience working in a defense, aerospace, or highly regulated manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

  • Define, own, and execute the enterprise-wide Digital Factory strategy, aligned with manufacturing modernization, capacity expansion, and operational excellence goals.
  • Develop and maintain a multi-year technology roadmap covering IIoT, OT infrastructure, Auto-ID, AI/ML integration, visualization platforms, and digital twin capabilities.
  • Identify emerging digital manufacturing technologies and assess their applicability and return on investment for manufacturing integration.
  • Partner with the lead systems architect to define and govern OT network architecture standards and integrations among ERP, MES, SCADA, and Historian systems, ensuring secure, scalable, and reliable connectivity between shop-floor assets and enterprise systems.
  • Lead the strategy and implementation of Auto-ID technologies, including barcode, RFID, and other identification and tracking systems, to enable end-to-end manufacturing traceability.
  • Collaborate with quality, manufacturing engineering, and supply chain teams to ensure Auto-ID solutions meet traceability and compliance requirements.
  • Establish the strategy for manufacturing dashboards, visualization platforms, and digital work instruction systems that provide real-time operational visibility.
  • Partner with operations and program leadership to ensure KPI data is actionable and supports continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Lead the identification, evaluation, and implementation of AI and ML tools to optimize manufacturing processes, predict equipment failures, reduce waste, and improve throughput.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of digital factory engineers and technology specialists, including providing direction, performance management, and career development support.
