About The Position

The Corning Museum of Glass (CMoG) is a unique institution that combines a museum, a renowned research library, and a leading studio and training program for glass artists. The Senior Manager, Digital Experience will lead a team to enhance the Museum’s impact with digital tools and experiences. CMoG has existing digital products and is looking to build its future digital-experience strategy. This role offers ownership of the digital visitor experience, both online and on-site, with the opportunity to innovate and demonstrate results. It is a hybrid role based in Corning, New York, within a small, agile digital team.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience.
  • 7+ years in digital experience, digital product, or UX strategy roles, spanning online platforms and onsite/in-person experience.
  • Demonstrated ownership of a visitor-, customer-, or user-facing digital strategy, from concept through measurable results.
  • Strong grounding in UX principles, service design, and journey mapping.
  • Experience managing digital platforms (CMS, ticketing, mobile apps, digital collections, CRM).
  • Experience building reporting or dashboards that generate real insight.
  • Track record of running a test-measure-iterate process.
  • Experience managing a small team and leading cross-functional work without direct authority.
  • Strong vendor and budget management experience.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for presenting strategy to non-technical stakeholders and leadership.
  • Experience working within established brand guidelines and translating brand strategy into digital execution.
  • Working knowledge of accessibility standards (WCAG) and inclusive design practice.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in museums, cultural institutions, hospitality, or another visitor-experience-driven industry.
  • Background in service design or design thinking facilitation.
  • Experience with emerging visitor technology (AR/VR, interactive wayfinding, personalization).
  • Experience conducting a digital experience audit or maturity assessment.

Responsibilities

  • Set the strategy and priorities for the digital visitor experience across online digital presence, on-site interactive technology, digital collection visibility and access, digital-engagement project budgets, and post-visit engagement.
  • Assess current digital products, identify areas for improvement or retirement, and build the museum's future digital-experience strategy and operating program.
  • Support the development of the internal digital team and build relationships with vendor partners to scale capacity.
  • Own in-gallery digital touchpoints, interactive kiosks, wayfinding, and AR/VR experiences.
  • Own the technical delivery of the museum's website, pre-visit and digital-first experience, and ticketing/member experience, in partnership with Marketing and Communications (MarCom).
  • Enhance digital collection visibility and access through online experiences, digital interpretation, and accessible design.
  • Partner with the Manager, Digital Platforms and Technical Development on operational infrastructure, including systems, data, vendors, and platforms.
  • Continuously simplify the visitor journey and introduce new digital touchpoints that create memorable moments, based on testing and measurement.
  • Align digital product decisions with the overall visitor journey and organizational priorities.
  • Own the technical delivery of post-visit engagement, including membership touchpoints and follow-up communications, in partnership with MarCom.
  • Ensure the digital experience consistently reflects the museum's brand.
  • Partner with curatorial, collections, marketing, communications, advancement, education, publications, and the library to ensure digital experience decisions support the full visitor journey.
  • Build reporting, KPIs, and feedback loops to measure initiative success and visitor preferences, implementing a test-measure-adjust discipline.
  • Partner with the CDIO and Manager, Digital Platforms and Technical Development to prepare and oversee the annual budget for digital initiatives, forecasts for maintenance, and budgetary projections for major projects.
