About The Position

This position is responsible for leading, developing, and engaging assigned Engineering personnel to meet current and future business requirements. The role involves deploying staff to approved business activities and technical programs within the Development Engineering team, focusing on combustion engine testing and calibration. The Senior Manager will oversee remote test sites and facilities, collaborate with other capability leads and organizational managers, and manage multiple concurrent initiatives to achieve technical and business objectives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field and 5 years of experience in managing engineering teams in the field of combustion engine development with focus on engine testing and calibration.
  • OR 9 years of experience in managing engineering teams in the field of combustion engine development with focus on engine testing and calibration.
  • Excellent knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology. This includes applying principles, techniques, procedures, and equipment to the design and production of diesel engine applications.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in mechanical engineering or related field
  • 10 years or more of experience calibrating and testing combustion engines.
  • Familiarity with testing and calibration associated with diesel after-treatment systems
  • Knowledge of MTU products, policies and procedures

Responsibilities

  • Direct, manage, and evaluate all development engineering activities related to combustion engine testing and calibration, including oversight of remote test sites and facilities.
  • Get in contact, align continuously with the other TTC capability leads for K&B at Friedrichshafen as well as the organizational managers at the Aiken site.
  • Perform exchange and align with colleagues and capability leads within TT and the interfaces to TT on all relevant topics.
  • Recruit, assign, develop, and evaluate engineering staff; set goals and ensure ongoing training and competence.
  • Plan, coordinate, and control development projects to achieve technical and business objectives.
  • Manage and approve project timelines, budgets, staffing, and resources for multiple concurrent initiatives.
  • Track and control project costs, coordinate cost recovery, and report project status to global stakeholders.
  • Oversee engine development activities, including planning for future test cell activity and equipment needs.
