About The Position

The Global Merchant and Network Services (GMNS) Product team is at the heart of American Express and is a core function within the GMNS business unit. Each year, we power billions of transactions through our global payments network, serving our Issuing & Acquiring partners in more than 170 markets worldwide. We grow revenue by driving strategic, multi-year initiatives to deliver differentiated value to our merchants, partners, and customers. Reporting to the Director of Debit Product Management & Delivery, you will play a key role in supporting the development and delivery of American Express’s Debit merchant acquiring capabilities — from concept through launch. You will help ensure that new Debit products and features are effectively designed, built, and implemented to meet customer, partner, and business needs. This Product Manager role will drive collaboration across business and technology teams, ensuring progress against priorities, alignment across functions, and readiness for deployment. You’ll be instrumental in supporting the delivery of innovative, high-quality Debit solutions that strengthen American Express’s position in the U.S. merchant acquiring/payments eco system.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of Product Management experience in card-based payments including acquiring capabilities, network operations and/or transaction processing (strong preference for U.S. Debit transaction acquiring experience.
  • Demonstrated experience managing complex, cross-functional delivery programs with multiple stakeholders.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills, with ability to manage competing priorities and meet ambitious deadlines.
  • Excellent communication and analytical skills, with the ability to navigate ambiguity and problem-solve effectively.
  • Strong collaboration skills across technical and business units.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify strategic opportunities, prioritize, and deliver high-quality outcomes aligned to enterprise goals.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required; advanced degree preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Support definition of the Debit merchant acquirer product value proposition, including the customer experience anchored in customer needs and industry insights and shape long-term platform capabilities.
  • Develop and manage execution of the Debit merchant acquiring product backlog and prioritization; roadmaps including dependency assessment; sequencing; change-management strategy execution, and operational readiness, ensuring deliverables are met across business, technology, and operational workstreams.
  • Work with our key strategic partners to align, develop and prioritize the Debit merchant acquiring backlog and roadmap
  • Support interactions with network and partners in the merchant acquiring/payments acquiring ecosystem, driving solution design, testing, and deployment readiness.
  • Monitor progress against delivery plans, identify risks and dependencies, and help develop mitigation plans.
  • Embed processes, controls, and governance frameworks to ensure scalable, sustainable delivery.
  • Contribute to a collaborative, high-performing team culture and provide mentorship and support to junior team members.
