About The Position

The Strategy & Science team within Last Mile Delivery at Walmart plays a vital role in enhancing delivery speed and efficiency while supporting rapid growth in eCommerce. This team develops sustainable strategies, advanced algorithms, and innovative product prototypes to improve driver experience, safety, and delivery capacity across various modes. The role focuses on van strategy complementing existing platforms, expanding delivery in dense urban markets, and introducing new categories like bulky items. Collaboration with internal parcel and fulfillment innovation teams drives development of future delivery modes, including autonomous vehicles, ensuring continuous advancement in last mile solutions.

Requirements

  • Extensive experience in data science, including advanced statistical methods and machine learning techniques
  • Proficiency in programming languages including Python and SQL for model development, testing, and deployment.
  • Strong skills in data visualization using tools like Tableau and PowerBI to effectively communicate complex data insights.
  • Ability to assess, validate, and tune models using metrics such as ROC curve and root mean square error.
  • Expertise in translating business requirements into solutions aligned with strategic objectives.
  • Proven leadership in mentoring teams and guiding advanced analytical modeling and feature engineering.
  • Solid understanding of business domains and to develop actionable recommendations based on data analysis.
  • Option 1: Bachelors degree in Statistics, Economics, Analytics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Information Technology or related field and 5 years' experience in an analytics related field.
  • Option 2: Masters degree in Statistics, Economics, Analytics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Information Technology or related field and 3 years' experience in an analytics related field.
  • Option 3: 7 years' experience in an analytics or related field.
