Payer Operations is one of the most complex, highest-leverage functions in healthcare, and one of the most underestimated. Getting a payer contract signed is just the beginning. What actually drives revenue is everything that comes next: credentialing, enrollment, provider data integrity, compliance, and hundreds of moving pieces that determine whether a clinician can see patients and whether a claim gets paid. As our Senior Manager of Credentialing and Payer Operations, you'll own that complexity and make it manageable for your team, for the payers we work with, and for the business. You don't need to have come up through credentialing. You do need to thrive on finding the structure underneath the chaos and building for scale. This role sits at the intersection of operations, revenue, and technology. You'll design the playbooks, lead the team that runs them, and partner with Engineering and Product to automate what shouldn't be manual. You'll have a direct line to senior leadership and a seat at the table in conversations that drive national expansion. Credentialing and Payer Operations touches everything, from network expansion to commercial contracting to revenue cycle. People who do this job well grow into payer strategy, commercial partnerships, or broader operations leadership. Requirements

5+ years of operational experience in high-growth or high-complexity environments. Consulting, healthcare, or operations backgrounds all translate well.
You make complex things simple. Not by cutting corners, but by finding the actual structure underneath the chaos and building systems that hold at scale.
You build, not maintain. You see a manual, inconsistent process and can't help but fix it. And you know the difference between a quick patch and a real solution.
You lead people well. You set clear expectations, give real feedback, and know when to delegate and when to dig in yourself.
AI is already in your toolkit. You've actually used AI to solve operational problems, and you're curious, not just enthusiastic, about where else it can go.
You're strong with data. You make decisions from dashboards, not intuition. You’re the type of person who always starts the morning knowing your numbers.
You communicate across the org. You can move things forward without direct authority and translate operational complexity into language that makes sense to Engineering, Finance, and the C-suite.
You're comfortable with ambiguity. You make progress without perfect information and improve the picture as you go.

Nice To Haves

Background in consulting or rapid change management
Experience in telehealth, multi-state provider networks, or direct payer engagement
Hands-on experience with payer portals (Availity, plan-specific portals)
Familiarity with commercial payer requirements; Medicare and Medicaid exposure a plus
Exposure to credentialing standards (NCQA, CMS)

Responsibilities

Make the complex manageable. Take the tangle of payer requirements, enrollment rules, and credentialing standards and turn them into documented, repeatable processes your team can run without you in the room every time.
Lead and develop your team. Manage a mix of U.S.-based and international specialists. Set clear expectations, give direct feedback, develop people, and build a team culture where high standards are the norm, not the exception.
Build infrastructure that scales. Design the workflows, systems, and data architecture for provider data management, licensing, and credentialing. Build for where the company is going, not just where it is.
Use AI to punch above your weight. You'll bring genuine enthusiasm and real experience to using AI tools and automations, and you'll partner with Engineering and Product to scale what would otherwise take five more people.
Own vendor and key payer relationships on the ops side. Manage key vendor relationships, hold them to SLAs, and escalate when they slip. Make sure external dependencies don't become internal bottlenecks.
Be the bridge. Work cross-functionally with Growth, RCM, and Payer Strategy to surface root-cause problems and solve them permanently. Not just this claim, but the next thousand.
Codify everything. When you solve something, you write it down. Your goal is that the team can handle any situation because you built the playbook, not because you happened to be in the room.
