About The Position

As a member of the Corporate Development team, you will help drive Grupo Bimbo’s and Bimbo Bakeries USA’s inorganic growth by leading venture investments, supporting M&A activity, and shaping strategic partnerships. The role sits at the intersection of capital deployment and strategic insight: Every dollar we put to work is expected to advance BBU’s long-term position in the food CPG landscape. The Senior Manager, Corporate Development associate will work directly with BBU’s Director of Corporate Development, Grupo Bimbo leadership, our portfolio company executives, and the external founder, investor, and operator community to create value through: Sourcing, evaluating, and executing venture investments across food CPG and other relevant verticals, deploying millions of dollars of capital Managing a robust existing venture portfolio of 10+ companies from performance tracking, follow-on decisions, and strategic support for founder teams Evaluating and structuring select strategic partnerships (JVs, sweat equity arrangements, etc.) Developing investment theses on attractive subsectors of food and CPG and translating those into a vibrant deal pipeline This role is approximately 60% CVC, 30% M&A, and 10% Partnerships.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required; MBA preferred
  • 7+ years of cumulative business experience, ideally including some combination of corporate development, venture capital, private equity, investment banking, management consulting, or operating roles in food and CPG
  • Demonstrated facility with financial modeling, accounting concepts, and valuation; comfort building deal models from a blank page
  • Genuine and demonstrated interest in the food and CPG industry
  • Willingness to travel 25-35% for trade shows, target company visits, portfolio company engagement, and internal meetings

Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain a proactive sourcing engine by engaging with founder and operator networks, developing banker and broker relationships, trade show coverage, investor co-investment dialogues, and direct outreach to companies of interest
  • Lead full-cycle deal execution: Commercial, financial, and operational diligence; investment memo development; financial modeling and valuation work; term sheet negotiation; and coordination with legal counsel
  • Build and present investment recommendations to BBU and Grupo Bimbo investment committees
  • Manage active portfolio company relationships, including periodic check-ins, support of management teams, and identification of strategic and commercial collaboration opportunities within BBU
  • Track portfolio performance, surface emerging risks and opportunities, and recommend follow-on investments or exit paths as appropriate
  • Support deal identification and target screening across categories of strategic interest
  • Build M&A business cases, including financial modeling, synergy analysis, valuation, and risk assessments
  • Lead and coordinate workstreams within cross-functional diligence teams covering commercial, financial, operational, legal, and integration considerations
  • Support negotiation and execution, working closely with the Director of Corporate Development and senior BBU and Grupo Bimbo stakeholders
  • Evaluate and structure joint ventures, sweat equity arrangements, and other complex partnership constructs
  • Coordinate with BU leadership to ensure partnership economics and strategic intent are aligned
  • Own and drive multiple concurrent workstreams, balancing competing demands and timelines
  • Develop and own perspectives on category dynamics, white spaces, emerging trends, and competitive activity in food and CPG; translate those perspectives into actionable investment theses and a forward-looking pipeline
  • Become a trusted resource to corporate leadership for external market intelligence
  • Prepare and present materials to BBU and Grupo Bimbo Senior Leadership with appropriate oversight from the Director
  • Manage analysts and MBA summer interns where applicable, including project staffing, coaching, and feedback
