About The Position

The Senior Manager, Corporate Safety & Security leads the enterprise Safety & Security governance framework across Grainger's North American operations. This role provides enterprise leadership for regulatory compliance, environmental compliance, governance, and risk management while ensuring consistent implementation of enterprise standards, regulatory requirements, and operational expectations across all regions. Reporting to the Director, Environmental Health & Safety, the role serves as a key member of the Enterprise Center of Excellence, partnering closely with regional leadership and cross-functional stakeholders to operationalize enterprise strategy through scalable governance, consistent program implementation, regulatory oversight, and continuous improvement. You will be located at our corporate HQ in Lake Forest, IL 3 days per week in office. This position is not eligible for any form of sponsorship now or in the future. Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience in Environmental Health & Safety, Engineering, Environmental Science, Occupational Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Business, or a related discipline required
• 7+ years of progressive Environmental Health & Safety, Risk Management, Compliance, or Security experience in a multi-site distribution, manufacturing, retail, or industrial environment. required
• Knowledge of OSHA, EPA, environmental, occupational safety, and related regulatory requirements, including experience interpreting and applying requirements across multiple jurisdictions.
• Knowledge of enterprise risk management, governance, regulatory compliance, environmental management, Management of Change, and related controls within complex multi-site operations.
• Experience evaluating compliance performance, regulatory trends, operational risk, reporting, and analytics and providing recommendations to senior leadership and cross-functional partners. AND Experience leading teams and building cross-functional partnerships across Operations, Human Resources, Legal, Engineering, Supply Chain, Security, and senior or executive leadership.

Responsibilities

• Lead the enterprise Safety & Security governance framework, developing and maintaining governance processes, compliance controls, and operating standards that ensure consistent implementation of enterprise requirements across all regions.
• Provide enterprise leadership for regulatory and environmental compliance, including regulatory monitoring, legal obligation registers, regulatory interpretation, permits, hazardous and universal waste, Tier II reporting, spill prevention, and implementation of new or revised regulatory requirements.
• Lead the enterprise Management of Change (MOC) process by establishing governance, review processes, and risk evaluations for operational, organizational, facility, technology, automation, and capital project changes.
• Partner with Directors, Enterprise Managers, regional leadership, and cross-functional business partners to evaluate enterprise risks, support governance activities, and ensure programs, systems, reporting, analytics, and training remain aligned with regulatory and business requirements.
• Coordinate enterprise regulatory inspections, agency interactions, citation responses, and significant regulatory matters, partnering with regional leaders and cross-functional stakeholders to evaluate risk, implement timely corrective actions, and sustain compliance.
• Provide enterprise oversight for business continuity, organizational resilience, and emergency preparedness programs while evaluating enterprise performance, emerging risks, regulatory trends, and compliance outcomes to provide recommendations that inform leadership decisions and continuous improvement.
• Support executive leadership by evaluating enterprise performance, emerging risks, regulatory trends, and compliance outcomes, providing analysis and recommendations that inform business decisions and continuous improvement.
• Lead and develop the Safety & Security team and partner with Directors, Enterprise Managers, regional leadership, Operations, Human Resources, Legal, Engineering, Supply Chain, Security, and other business partners to align governance programs, systems, analytics, training, and cross-functional initiatives with regulatory and business requirements.
