About The Position

Avid Technology is a global leader in media technology solutions. The company is private-equity-backed and is at an exciting inflection point, investing in transforming its financial infrastructure and building a best-in-class FP&A function for long-term growth. This is a hands-on finance role for an experienced FP&A professional focused on strengthening and modernizing core planning and reporting processes within a complex, PE-backed software environment. The role reports to the SVP of FP&A and involves coordinating the annual operating plan, administering financial planning software (NetSuite Planning and Budgeting), and playing a key role in the monthly close-to-report process. The position requires close partnership with the SVP of FP&A, Accounting, the CFO, and other executive leaders. Responsibilities include ownership of lender and investor reporting, three-statement modeling, and cash forecasting. The role also leads 1-2 Financial Analysts, combining hands-on work with people management. The goal is to create an always-on finance function where the forecast is a living model, continuously flowing from bookings and renewals to the P&L and cash, powered by financial planning software and a single source of truth for revenue and ARR.

Requirements

  • 6–8 years of progressive FP&A experience, including direct exposure to a PE-backed or investor-reporting environment.
  • Experience administering an FP&A planning tool such as NetSuite Planning and Budgeting, Adaptive Planning, Anaplan, or equivalent; hands-on administration experience strongly preferred.
  • Solid understanding of the monthly close process and demonstrated ability to partner effectively with Accounting.
  • Working knowledge of three-statement financial modeling and cash flow forecasting.
  • Familiarity with lender or investor reporting concepts (KPI dashboards, variance narratives, compliance schedules).
  • Strong Excel modeling skills.
  • Comfort with ERP (NetSuite preferred) and BI tools (Power BI or Tableau).
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate financial detail into clear narratives for varied audiences.
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • AI-forward mindset — comfortable using AI tools (e.g., Copilot, ChatGPT/Claude, or similar) to automate reporting, accelerate analysis, and improve modeling work.
  • Experience in a subscription software or multi-product revenue environment.
  • Prior experience managing or mentoring junior finance team members.
  • Exposure to ARR or recurring-revenue reporting concepts.

Nice To Haves

  • MBA, MSF, or CPA (or progress toward).
  • Familiarity with Python or SQL for data extraction and automation.

Responsibilities

  • Support rolling forecasts, reforecasts, and long-range planning, maintaining driver-based models.
  • Build scenario and sensitivity analyses for leadership.
  • Track actual results against plan monthly and flag variances.
  • Design, implement, and administer the company's financial planning software (NetSuite Planning and Budgeting), including model structure, workflows, and user access.
  • Serve as the internal subject-matter expert on the financial planning software, troubleshooting issues and training users.
  • Continuously improve planning system design to reduce manual work and enhance forecast/reporting reliability.
  • Benchmark FP&A tools, reporting practices, and process design against external standards.
  • Own the monthly close calendar from an FP&A perspective, coordinating timing and deliverables with Accounting.
  • Partner with Accounting throughout the close process to understand results, resolve questions, and ensure management reporting ties to the general ledger.
  • Support the monthly close book and management reporting package, ensuring figures reconcile end-to-end.
  • Help track down and close data discrepancies between source systems and management reporting.
  • Build and maintain three-statement financial models (P&L, balance sheet, cash flow).
  • Own a forward-looking cash forecasting process, including monthly liquidity views and scenario analysis.
  • Translate operating plans and forecasts into cash flow impact for lender and investor reporting.
  • Own defined workstreams within the quarterly lender reporting package and PE sponsor's management reporting package.
