Requirements

  • Master’s degree and 5 years of Business, Marketing, Communications, or a related field experience OR Bachelor’s degree and 7 years of Business, Marketing, Communications, or a related field experience OR Professional degree and 10 years of Business, Marketing, Communications, Strategy, Analytics, or a related field experience OR High school diploma / GED and 12 years of Business, Marketing, Communications, or a related field experience
  • 2 years of managerial experience directly managing people and/or leadership experience leading teams, projects, programs or directing the allocation of resources
  • Professional fluency in English to operate in a truly global context

Responsibilities

  • Report to the Senior Director of Corporate Affairs for the ELMAC region (Europe, Latin America, Middle East, Africa and Canada).
  • Serve as a member of the commercial affiliate responsible for delivering important and innovative medicines to patients.
  • Strategic communications planning, execution and measurement.
  • External communications, including media relations, digital media and social media.
  • Issues management and internal communications.
  • Combine Corporate Affairs technical expertise with a deep understanding of Canada’s business priorities.
  • Serve as a member of the affiliate Leadership Team, providing senior strategic counsel aligned to support these priorities, Amgen’s corporate reputation and the evolving market dynamics.
  • Work within a matrixed organization as an enabling partner by collaborating with other functions, including Brand teams, Value, Access & Pricing, Medical Affairs, Government Affairs, Human Resources and other teams to deliver against the country’s key priorities.
  • Work in close coordination with the newly established ELMAC Corporate Affairs strategic team based in Portugal by leveraging provided materials and localizing to country-specific needs and opportunities.
  • Serve as an important member of the ELMAC Corporate Affairs team, proactively sharing insights and learnings.
  • Focus on execution of tactics including external communications, leadership messaging, issues management and some internal communications.
  • Understand key audiences in Canada to ensure appropriate and aligned messaging.
  • Track key trends, tactical impact and signals in the market.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key journalists within Canada.
  • Manage social media channels with appropriate strategy to reach target audiences.
  • Support local issues management, in partnership with regional and global colleagues when needed, including monitoring and escalation.
  • Leverage employee communications initiatives to convey important updates and support connectivity across internal audiences.
  • Continue to learn about and leverage innovative tools to focus on highest impact work, including enterprise AI technologies.
  • Understand local pharmaceutical policy environment and provide communications support in partnership with Government Affairs and Value, Access & Pricing teams.
  • Understand ESG requirements and provide communications counsel and support accordingly.
  • Understand and follow local processes, regulations and laws.
  • Ensure the company is represented in alignment with corporate policies, including Amgen brand governance.
