Senior Manager, Content & Channels

EquinixToronto, ON
$136,000 - $204,000

About The Position

Employee Communications is core to how Equinix builds a connected, informed, and engaged workforce across a global, hybrid business. The channels, content, and brand voice this team owns are often an employee's primary window into the company, what they read, watch, and hear shapes how they understand strategy, feel about culture, and show up every day. The Senior Manager, Content & Channels is the owner of Equinix's internal content and channel ecosystem. This leader will define the channel strategy, design and stand up a scalable internal content engine, and own the full suite of employee-facing channels, including broadcast email (Poppulo), the corporate intranet (Hub), digital signage, and Viva Engage. They will also own the internal brand and tone of voice, ensuring every piece of content, wherever it lives, sounds and feels like Equinix. This role leads the Content & Channels team. The Senior Manager is accountable for the team's strategy, standards, capability, and capacity, and for the performance of the channel ecosystem as a whole. The right person is a strategic thinker and a hands-on leader, someone who can set a channel roadmap, build the operating model that delivers against it, and step personally into the highest-stakes moments and content.

Requirements

  • 7–10 years of communications experience, including internal/employee communications, content strategy, or channel management.
  • Experience managing broadcast email platforms (Poppulo or similar), intranets, and enterprise social/collaboration tools (Viva Engage or similar).
  • Knowledge and experience of integrating AI into a content and channels approach.
  • Proven experience building or scaling a content function, with strong editorial judgment and an eye for visual quality.
  • People management experience, including managing a manager and leading a team indirectly, with a track record of developing others.
  • Experience owning team capacity, budget, and vendor or agency relationships.
  • Strong grasp of internal brand and tone of voice, with the ability to build and enforce guidelines across a large organization.
  • Data-informed approach to channel and content decisions, comfortable working with engagement metrics and reporting to a senior audience.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with exceptional attention to detail.
  • A strategic mindset paired with a bias for action — equally comfortable setting a roadmap and getting hands-on with execution.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and own a multi-channel strategy that defines the right channel for the right message, moment, and audience across a global, hybrid workforce.
  • Evaluate and implement AI-enabled content and channel tools to speed up production and enable personalization at scale, and set the guardrails for their use.
  • Set the roadmap for Equinix's internal channel ecosystem, including future investment, consolidation, or retirement of channels.
  • Define channel governance, who can publish where, approval workflows, and standards for cadence and volume, to protect employees from message fatigue.
  • Use channel performance data and employee feedback to continuously refine the strategy.
  • Design the operating model for Equinix's internal content engine, automating content discovery with AI agents, defining how work comes in, how it is prioritized, how it is produced, and to what standard, and hold the Manager, Content & Channels accountable for running it.
  • Own the annual and quarterly content plan, translating company strategy and executive priorities into the themes and campaigns the engine delivers against.
  • Partner with business, HR, and executive stakeholders to shape their priorities into compelling employee-facing content, and broker competing demands on a finite team.
  • Own the resourcing model for content production, team capacity, agency and freelance support, budget, and tooling, and make the trade-off calls when demand exceeds capacity.
  • Set editorial, creative, and accessibility quality standards, and review the engine's output against them.
  • Lead content and channel delivery for the most sensitive and highest-stakes moments personally, and serve as channel owner during major moments such as reorganizations, incidents, and leadership changes, where speed and precision matter most.
  • Own end-to-end management of broadcast email (Poppulo), including platform administration, send strategy, segmentation, and performance reporting.
  • Own the intranet (Hub) as a channel, information architecture, homepage strategy, content standards, and platform roadmap. Day-to-day Hub News operations sit with the Manager, Content & Channels.
  • Partner with other teams to review the digital signage network strategy, including screen placement and estate decisions, platform selection, and the standards the network runs to.
  • Own the strategy and day-to-day management of Viva Engage, including community structure, moderation, and driving meaningful employee participation.
  • Work with cross-functional teams to use AI to transform the employee comms experience.
  • Manage relationships, contracts, and budgets with channel platform vendors, and stay current on new features and best practices.
  • Own the internal brand: visual identity, templates, and design standards for all employee-facing content and channels.
  • Define and maintain Equinix's internal tone of voice, ensuring consistency across every channel and every contributor.
  • Build brand and voice guidelines, and train content owners across the business to use them confidently.
  • Act as the final quality check for major internal campaigns, protecting brand and voice consistency at scale.
  • Set accessibility and localization standards so content works for a global, multilingual workforce.
  • Define channel and content KPIs: reach versus target audience, opens, click-through, engagement, sentiment, and report regularly to leadership on what is working and what should change.
  • Partner with HR and People Analytics on pulse surveys and channel-specific feedback to close the loop between what employees say and what the team produces.
  • Lead, coach, and develop the Manager, Content & Channels, setting clear priorities, standards, and a growth path, and leading the wider team through them.
  • Own team design, capability, and capacity: defining the roles the function needs, hiring into them, and building skills in writing, video, design, and channel management.
  • Set and review performance objectives across the team, manage performance issues, and create visible development opportunities for the creative team.
  • Build and manage a network of regional and functional communications contributors who create content locally within brand and voice guardrails.
  • Build a team culture that balances high creative standards with operational discipline and reliability, and that protects the team's focus and wellbeing during peak demand.
