About The Position

Wagepoint is seeking a talented Senior Content Marketing Manager who enjoys tackling hard problems and wants to create meaningful impact for small businesses across Canada. This is a hands-on digital content marketer role that will turn strategy into a steady stream of useful, discoverable, and distinctly Wagepoint content. The role involves owning the day-to-day social publishing engine and content-led SEO and GEO execution, while also writing, editing, repurposing, and coordinating the people needed to produce high-quality work. This is a maker role with strategic range, allowing the individual to be close to the work, write content, run the content engine, read performance reports, and use learnings to improve future content. The position reports directly to the Director, Content & Brand.

Requirements

  • Approximately seven or more years of experience in content marketing, digital marketing, or social content, or equivalent demonstrated experience at this level.
  • A portfolio showcasing strong writing and editing across various formats, including personally created work and work that was improved or directed.
  • Hands-on ownership of brand social channels, encompassing editorial planning, publishing, measurement, and iteration.
  • Practical SEO/GEO experience, including understanding search intent, creating content briefs, on-page optimization, internal linking, content refreshes, and performance analysis.
  • The ability to simplify complex subjects without sacrificing accuracy, particularly concerning facts, regulations, or customer trust.
  • Comfort using analytics and channel tools to inform decision-making.
  • Experience with tools such as HubSpot and Agorapulse (exact tool matches are not required).
  • Strong project judgment in a lean, remote environment, with the ability to prioritize, request necessary resources, collaborate effectively, and deliver results.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in Canadian payroll, accounting, bookkeeping, fintech, HR technology, B2B SaaS, or another complex or regulated category.
  • Experience marketing to small business owners and/or professional advisors.
  • Experience with data-led content, webinars, video, or integrated campaign distribution.
  • Familiarity with emerging search behaviors, AI-assisted discovery, and content designed to earn citations or recommendations beyond traditional search results.

Responsibilities

  • Own the day-to-day social editorial calendar across Wagepoint's priority channels, from idea and platform-native copy through scheduling, publishing, and quality control, maintaining a rhythm of five posts per week.
  • Balance educational, brand, product, customer, and timely content on social media, prioritizing relevance, audience reach, qualified traffic, and meaningful action.
  • Transform blogs, guides, webinars, videos, research, and customer insights into channel-specific social stories, moving beyond simple link promotion.
  • Partner with design and internal subject-matter experts on briefs, visual direction, and approvals for social content.
  • Track social channel performance, test formats and messages, and share clear recommendations for content strategy.
  • Translate technical SEO, search demand, AI-search behavior, and audience insights into a prioritized content backlog for new pages, targeted refreshes, and internal linking improvements.
  • Build content briefs focused on the real questions and intent of SMB and accounting/bookkeeping audiences, ensuring credible expertise, useful structure, and clear next steps.
  • Optimize on-page elements, structure, metadata, and internal links while maintaining clarity, accuracy, and Wagepoint's brand voice.
  • Collaborate with technical SEO/GEO and web partners on recommendations, implementation dependencies, and measurement, applying content judgment to decisions.
  • Monitor rankings, qualified organic traffic, engagement, and conversion signals to shape the content roadmap.
  • Write and edit short- to long-form content, including social copy, conversion copy, product and campaign content, resource updates, and web copy.
  • Establish a regular feedback loop with Sales, Customer Success, and other customer-facing teams to identify common questions, objections, successes, and friction points to inform the editorial calendar.
  • Make complex or compliance-sensitive topics clear, human, and practical without losing nuance.
  • Edit work from internal contributors, specialists, and partner advocates for structure, accuracy, voice, and usefulness.
  • Thoughtfully utilize AI to accelerate research, ideation, repurposing, and quality checks, while maintaining human judgment, originality, and accountability.
  • Manage the editorial calendar, briefs, reviews, and handoffs to ensure consistent publishing without last-minute issues.
  • Define the priority audience, distribution plan, and desired next action for larger content initiatives before production begins.
  • Develop lightweight systems for repurposing content, evergreen refreshes, content governance, and asset reuse.
  • Maintain a monthly overview of owned content performance, linking publishing activity to audience growth, engagement, qualified traffic, and conversion.
  • Identify and resolve workflow bottlenecks through improved priorities, clearer roles, or simpler processes.
