About The Position

The Senior Manager, Compensation and Benefits is responsible for managing the design, administration, communication and legal compliance of all Building Flow Solutions (BFS) Americas employee benefits, recognition and well-being programs, and for overseeing compensation structures and administration, including payroll. Leveraging extensive experience, the incumbent is responsible for ongoing analysis of existing programs and identification of new programs or changes to ensure ongoing competitiveness with the external market while meeting the needs of the employee population and overall company strategy. This work is done in close partnership with our external broker and benefit providers, and in close collaboration with global and regional compensation philosophies and programs to ensure alignment across GF. The role also manages employee recognition, wellness and leave of absence policies and programs for U.S. and Canadian benefit and retirement programs for BFS division and ensures full legal compliance. Provides strategic oversight for current benefits offerings and related programs in the US and Canada in partnership with sister division to foster alignment of overall programs that deliver a common employee experience. Evaluates the usage, services, coverage, effectiveness, cost, plan experience, and competitive trends in benefits programs and identifies the company’s need for change to continue to attract and retain talent.

Requirements

  • Requires bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 10 years benefits and compensation experience or equivalent direct experience.
  • Knowledge of all pertinent federal and state regulations, filing and compliance requirements both adopted and pending affecting employees benefit and compensation programs, including FLSA, ERISA, ACA, COBRA, FMLA, ADA, SECTION 125, Medicare, Social Security, and DOL requirements.
  • Minimum 5 years effective leadership of teams, including development and coaching.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of Canadian compensation and benefits regulations, highly preferred.
  • Prior experience working with Workday HRIS Benefits and Advanced Compensations modules, preferred.
  • Prior experience with M&A/ benefits alignment and integrations, highly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Creates overall short- and long-term strategies for benefits and retirement plans for the US and Canadian locations and manages external relationships and serves as primary contact.
  • General maintenance of benefit website/intranet and Workday benefits modules.
  • Leads BFS Well-being initiatives for the Americas; sets the direction of rewards and recognition platform (STAR), ensuring accurate administration and providing insights on long and short-term strategies and enhancements, including budgeting, meetings, events and communications.
  • Effective leadership of local Total Rewards team; setting clear goals, providing effective feedback and coaching throughout the year via GF’s people processes, as well as through informal channels.
  • Works and collaborates effectively with BFS broader HR team and business stakeholders to ensure comp/benefits strategies meet the needs of our local BFS business.
  • Oversees the development of strategies and structures for the North American Compensation programs. This includes ownership of Compensation-related policies, procedures and plans in partnership with the local Compensation Analyst and in alignment with the Global Comp/Ben COE team.
  • Oversight of local processes including market pricing and salary structure development; incentive plans; Executive pay and perquisites; salary planning including research and recommending annual adjustments; FLSA testing; communication and training for managers.
  • Manages and communicates annual events which include open enrollment, compliance notifications, audits, tax filing, and other government regulation compliance. For example, ensure payments and filings of 1095C, 1094C, ERISA, discrimination testing, PCORI fees, and 5500s.
  • Coordinates activities of the Uponor North America Investment Advisory Committee and Benefits Committee and manages outside vendors, also partners with counterparts in the global Comp/Ben COE and with regional resources at sister division(s) of GF
  • Seeks out opportunities to contribute to the business success through proactive involvement in team initiatives and continuous improvement efforts
