About The Position

Parsons is seeking an experienced professional to serve as a Manager, Community Relations for a Mega-Project in NY/NJ. This role involves the design and execution of public outreach and community relations plans for complex transportation infrastructure projects. The goal is to create project awareness, understanding, and positive perception. This position requires expert skill in internal and external communication strategies and the ability to build strong relationships with impacted residents, businesses, community organizations, elected officials, regulatory agencies, the client-owner, and internal constituents.

Requirements

  • 4-year degree in Communications, Public Relations, Advertising, or Journalism (or equivalent).
  • At least 10 years of directly related work experience in a Transportation related field.
  • Experience in media relations.
  • Exceptional written/verbal communication abilities.
  • Superior organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Creativity and ability to meet multiple deadlines.
  • Detail-oriented and able to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Aptitude for public speaking is essential.
  • Exemplary professional attitude and demonstrated ability to exercise tact, diplomacy, good judgment, and excellent customer service and support.
  • Ability to interface effectively with a variety of people.
  • Strong knowledge of corporate policies and procedures.
  • Ability to appropriately handle confidential issues.
  • Excellent PC skills (MS Word, MS Excel etc.).
  • Ability to work in html.
  • Ability to utilize graphics programs.
  • Ability to utilize Microsoft Office SharePoint server technologies.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare a variety of marketing communications for approval by client and project teams, in conjunction with the Gateway Development Commission.
  • Execute marketing tactics and measure/report on levels of success.
  • Conduct project research.
  • Extensive writing, including press releases, articles, speeches, social media content, and project website content.
  • Develop advertising and collateral materials such as flyers, brochures, and presentations.
  • Plan events.
  • Manage media relations.
  • Negotiate media buying and PSA agreements.
  • Coordinate photography.
  • Work closely with graphic designers, programmers, printers, and other internal/external service providers.
  • May be responsible for establishing and maintaining project-specific public outreach/community relations budget within the limits of the task order or contract.
  • Perform other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate.
