About The Position

The Senior Manager, Commercial Operations is the senior operating leader responsible for the commercial infrastructure, management system, and execution disciplines that enable SENS to scale revenue efficiently, predictably, and profitably. This role has broad responsibility for commercial operating cadence, sales operations, forecasting governance, quote-to-order performance, commercial systems strategy, analytics, process governance, and cross-functional commercial transformation. Reporting to the VP, Sales Operations, this leader operates with substantial autonomy and delegated decision authority across defined areas of Commercial Operations. The position translates company growth strategy and executive priorities into scalable capabilities, disciplined operating mechanisms, measurable performance, clear accountability, and sustained execution. The Senior Manager leads managers and professional staff, partners directly with senior and executive leadership, and serves as a key business partner across Sales, Sales Engineering, Finance, IT, Engineering, Operations, Supply Chain, Order Management, and Customer Success. The role is accountable not only for day-to-day commercial execution, but also for building the organization, systems, governance, and operating model required to support continued SENS growth.

Requirements

  • 12+ years of progressive experience in Commercial Operations, Revenue Operations, Sales Operations, business operations, sales leadership, or an equivalent cross-functional commercial leadership role.
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, operations, engineering, analytics, or a related discipline, or 4 additional years of relevant professional experience.
  • 5+ years of demonstrated people-leadership experience, including leadership of managers, professional staff, or multifunctional teams.
  • Demonstrated success operating at senior functional-leader or Director-equivalent scope in a complex B2B environment.
  • Proven ability to lead commercial operating cadence, revenue forecasting, sales operations, analytics, process governance, systems strategy, and cross-functional execution.
  • Demonstrated experience translating company strategy and executive priorities into scalable operating models, structured execution plans, measurable performance expectations, and sustainable business processes.
  • Strong working knowledge of CRM platforms, pipeline management, forecasting methodologies, quoting and RFQ processes, commercial analytics, sales performance management, and quote-to-order execution.
  • Demonstrated experience leading complex cross-functional transformation initiatives involving multiple business functions, competing priorities, senior stakeholders, and significant organizational change.
  • Strong business and financial acumen, including the ability to evaluate revenue performance, margin implications, commercial risk, productivity, resource requirements, and business investment decisions.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with executive leaders and provide clear recommendations, risk assessments, performance insights, and decision support.
  • Strong leadership, analytical, project-management, change-management, organizational-design, and stakeholder-management capabilities.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience leading Commercial Operations or Revenue Operations within an industrial, manufacturing, engineered-product, capital-equipment, or complex B2B sales environment.

Responsibilities

  • Own the SENS commercial operating system and management cadence across pipeline, forecasting, quoting, pricing, sales performance, order handoff, commercial execution, and related business processes.
  • Establish and continuously improve management routines for pipeline inspection, forecast review, deal progression, quote aging, opportunity accountability, commercial risk identification, action tracking, and executive decision-making.
  • Act on behalf of the VP, Sales Operations in defined operating forums and exercise delegated authority over priorities, escalations, operating decisions, and corrective actions within assigned areas.
  • Translate executive priorities and company growth objectives into structured commercial operating plans, measurable initiatives, clear ownership, decision frameworks, milestones, and accountability mechanisms.
  • Identify material commercial risks, capacity constraints, process breakdowns, performance gaps, and unclear ownership early; develop recommendations and drive approved corrective actions through completion.
  • Partner with Commercial leadership and Finance to establish annual and quarterly revenue operating plans, performance expectations, management routines, and corrective-action processes.
  • Strengthen revenue predictability through rigorous forecasting governance, pipeline quality, stage discipline, close-date integrity, opportunity accountability, CRM data quality, and management inspection routines.
  • Own the commercial KPI and performance-management architecture across bookings, revenue, margin, pipeline, forecast accuracy, quote conversion, quote cycle time, sales productivity, customer lifecycle performance, and other critical commercial measures.
  • Deliver executive-ready commercial performance reporting, operating reviews, dashboards, risk assessments, and recommendations that support timely and fact-based business decisions.
  • Identify emerging risks to revenue, bookings, margin, quote execution, customer commitments, or commercial capacity and lead cross-functional mitigation efforts.
  • Own the end-to-end RFQ and quote operating model, including intake standards, routing logic, prioritization, service-level expectations, ownership, approval workflows, escalation criteria, status visibility, performance reporting, and continuous improvement.
  • Lead improvement of the commercial lifecycle across lead-to-opportunity, opportunity-to-quote, quote-to-order, order handoff, customer onboarding, rep and channel enablement, and related customer-experience processes.
  • Establish governance for quote aging, commercial exceptions, approval authorities, deal progression, handoffs, and issue resolution.
  • Partner with Sales, Sales Engineering, Order Management, Operations, Engineering, Supply Chain, and Finance to improve commercial throughput while maintaining appropriate controls and customer commitments.
  • Drive measurable improvements in quote cycle time, conversion, commercial capacity, execution quality, and customer responsiveness.
  • Partner with Finance and Commercial leadership to establish disciplined processes for pricing, margin visibility, discounting, commercial approvals, and exception management.
  • Lead commercial governance for strategically significant, complex, high-value, or nonstandard opportunities, including pricing considerations, margin exposure, commercial risk, approval routing, and executive escalation.
  • Support the development and maintenance of pricing analytics, margin reporting, commercial decision tools, and management controls that improve the quality and speed of commercial decisions.
  • Partner with Finance on quota and attainment reporting, incentive-compensation administration, sales performance reporting, pricing analysis, and related commercial controls.
  • Recommend enhancements to commercial policies, approval structures, deal governance, and pricing practices based on business performance, market conditions, and operational experience.
  • Own the Commercial Operations technology strategy and multi-year roadmap across CRM, CPQ/configuration, business intelligence, workflow automation, quote intake, customer and channel tools, and related commercial integrations.
  • Establish business requirements, architecture priorities, investment recommendations, governance standards, adoption expectations, data requirements, and expected business outcomes for supported commercial technology platforms.
  • Lead Sales Operations process adoption and commercial-systems governance in partnership with the HubSpot Administrator, CPQ/Configurator Administrator, IT, Finance, business leaders, and external vendors.
  • Ensure commercial systems support scalable processes, reliable data, management visibility, user productivity, effective controls, and appropriate integration with ERP and other enterprise platforms.
  • Establish prioritization and governance mechanisms for commercial-system enhancements, reporting requests, workflow automation, integrations, technical debt, and new capabilities.
  • Evaluate the business impact and return on commercial technology investments and recommend resource allocation accordingly.
  • Lead and develop the Commercial Operations organization, including managers and professional individual contributors across assigned sales operations, business analysis, commercial systems, quote/order operations, customer operations, and related capabilities.
  • Establish clear organizational priorities, decision rights, performance expectations, operating standards, development plans, and accountability.
  • Own workforce planning, resource allocation, organizational design recommendations, succession planning, talent development, and capability-building for Commercial Operations.
  • Coach managers and team members to increase independent decision-making, business judgment, analytical capability, cross-functional effectiveness, and leadership capacity.
  • Build organizational depth and operating mechanisms that reduce reliance on VP-level manual routing, issue resolution, and day-to-day intervention.
  • Create an operating environment characterized by accountability, transparency, proactive escalation, disciplined execution, and continuous improvement.
  • Lead the Commercial Operations component of annual operating planning, including strategic priorities, capacity requirements, technology investments, resource needs, productivity initiatives, process improvements, and performance objectives.
  • Translate company growth strategy into scalable commercial capabilities, organizational requirements, technology priorities, business processes, operating mechanisms, and implementation roadmaps.
  • Lead enterprise cross-functional initiatives that materially affect revenue growth, margin performance, commercial scalability, productivity, or customer experience.
  • Serve as business owner, executive delegate, or commercial lead for selected transformation programs spanning Sales, Sales Engineering, Finance, IT, Engineering, Operations, Supply Chain, Order Management, and Customer Success.
  • Establish project governance, decision structures, ownership models, milestones, business requirements, risk management, and measurable outcomes for major commercial initiatives.
  • Ensure transformation programs move from recommendation through implementation, adoption, stabilization, and measurable business results.
  • Partner with the Commercial Operations & Enablement Manager on commercial policy governance, contract operations, SOP management, onboarding, training, documentation, and organizational change adoption.
  • Establish governance mechanisms that clarify ownership, decision authority, escalation paths, service expectations, and accountability across the commercial organization.
  • Ensure new processes, policies, and systems are supported by appropriate communication, training, adoption measures, documentation, and management reinforcement.
  • Lead change-management efforts for significant commercial process, technology, organization, and operating-model changes.
  • Manage key commercial vendor relationships, contracts, requirements, performance expectations, budgets, implementation priorities, adoption, issue escalation, and business outcomes.
  • Develop business cases and investment recommendations for commercial technology, external services, process improvement, and organizational capability.
  • Ensure vendor-supported solutions meet operational requirements, deliver expected value, and align with SENS commercial architecture and strategic priorities.
