Senior Manager, Commercial Innovation & Business Development

HelloFreshNew York, NY
$139,500 - $162,750Onsite

About The Position

HelloFresh has built one of the most recognized consumer food brands in North America, anchored in a clear mission: enriching weeknight dinners. While our core subscription meal kits offering remains central to our success, we also see opportunities to expand the ways people can access and experience HelloFresh — think new product types, new distribution channels, and new ways of reaching incremental customer segments. This is a new role reporting to the VP Product Strategy & Innovation for US Meal Kits, created specifically to own the scoping, prioritization, and pursuit of HelloFresh's revenue diversification initiatives. You will be the commercial innovation engine for the US business — identifying the highest-value bets beyond our core, building the business cases to win internal support, and partnering cross-functionally to get them off the ground. This role is ideal for someone who is entrepreneurial and rigorous in equal measure: comfortable building a financial model and closing a partnership in the same week, and energized by taking something from whiteboard to pilot to scale.

Requirements

  • 6–9+ years of experience in strategy, business development, new ventures, management consulting, investment banking, or a related field — with a meaningful portion spent building something new, not just analyzing it.
  • A track record of identifying, scoping, and closing commercial partnerships or launching new business initiatives, ideally in a consumer-facing industry.
  • Experience in consumer, e-commerce, subscription, DTC, or CPG businesses is strongly preferred; food industry experience is a plus but not required.
  • Financial modeling skills and the ability to make sound decisions with incomplete data and tight timelines.
  • Experience taking a concept from zero to launch — scrappy pilots count as much as polished programs.
  • Exceptional cross-functional coordination ability — you have successfully led complex initiatives across Product, Marketing, Legal, Finance, and Operations teams.

Nice To Haves

  • An MBA or equivalent graduate training is preferred but not required. We hire for demonstrated impact, not credentials.

Responsibilities

  • Own the commercial innovation roadmap: maintain a clear, prioritized view of revenue diversification opportunities across three horizons — new product formats, new distribution channels, and new customer segments. Keep the pipeline live and evolving as market signals shift.
  • Synthesize consumer trends, competitive moves, and analogous businesses from within and beyond the food industry to bring a steady stream of outside-in perspective to the team.
  • Build the business case for priority initiatives, including market sizing, financial modeling, competitive benchmarking, and feasibility assessment. Present recommendations to senior leadership with clear frameworks and supporting data.
  • Source, structure, and close strategic partnerships with external organizations — including recipe platforms, third-party delivery channels, retail partners, licensing manufacturers, and creator/influencer networks — at senior executive levels.
  • Drive pilots from concept to launch, coordinating across internal teams and solving for new capabilities where needed to get an MVP into market with speed and rigor.
  • Develop go-to-market strategy for new product and channel launches, including positioning, pricing, sequencing, and the CRM and conversion logic that turns trial into subscription.
  • Act as the internal champion for commercial innovation — educating cross-functional stakeholders, building alignment on priorities, and creating the narrative that drives resource allocation toward new growth.
  • Manage a portfolio of active initiatives simultaneously, balancing early-stage exploration with in-flight pilots and partnerships that need day-to-day attention.

Benefits

  • Competitive salary
  • 401k with company match that vests immediately upon participation
  • Generous PTO, including sabbatical, and parental leave of up to 16 weeks
  • Comprehensive health and wellness benefits with options at $0 monthly, effective first day of employment
  • Tuition reimbursement for continuing education (upon 2 years of service)
  • Up to 85% discount on subscriptions to HelloFresh meal plans (HelloFresh, Green Chef, Everyplate, and Factor_)
  • Access to Employee Resource Groups that are open to all employees, including those pertaining to BIPOC, women, veterans, parents, and LGBTQ+
  • Inclusive, collaborative, and dynamic work environment within a fast-paced, mission-driven company that is disrupting the traditional food supply chain
