About The Position

Capital Management is a key strategic priority for the Bank. The incumbent will be a critical member of the Capital Policy and Planning team, supporting processes that provide capital-relevant information to Executive Management for strategic decision-making. This involves building, enhancing, and maintaining integrated data for decision-making and reporting to OSFI. A key requirement is supporting the Director Capital Policy and Planning and the VP Capital Management in responding to time-sensitive leadership requests for capital-related analysis and information.

Requirements

  • Graduate degree in Finance, Business or Economics. Graduate or undergraduate degree in mathematical or scientific discipline.
  • 5-7 years’ experience in financial Modeling, financial analysis, data analytics or risk modeling.
  • Strong financial acumen and deep understanding of forecasting & planning process, finance systems (SmartView, Hyperion, OBI), and data management principles.
  • Advanced skills in Excel, VBA, SQL, Access, Power BI; and ability to apply best data management practices to large data sets and develop new models, refine existing models and processes.
  • Strong Methodology Background with track record of challenging and solving complex business and financial modelling assumptions in a real setting.
  • In-depth knowledge of capital concepts (Basel III, risk weight asset, risk modelling).
  • Ability to multi-task in a time-sensitive environment and high degree of flexibility and adaptability.
  • Strong analytical and research skills and ability to synthesize high-quality presentations and excel summaries.
  • Excellent ability to produce clear, presentable, and traceable excel files that can be shared with executive management and interpreted easily.

Responsibilities

  • Provide analytic skills to challenge Capital forecast assumptions and provide a firmer methodology background for analytical models.
  • Support the calibration of complex capital allocation parameters (e.g., for Client Profitability Calibration tied to Forecasts).
  • Connect with the new FRM team under Group Treasury to align on methodology and approaches for optimizing Financial Resource Management and Allocation.
  • Provide support for Capital Forecasting to be formally scoped in for Model Governance (under E-23).
  • Improve automation of the Capital Forecasting Process and BCAR Validation Processes.
  • Develop, enhance, and maintain capital forecasting models for the Bank's monthly forecasts, OSFI quarterly multi-year forecast, Enterprise-Wide Stress Testing (EWST), Recovery and Resolution plans, and Internal Capital Adequacy Assessment Report (ICAAR).
  • Coordinate with multiple stakeholders to obtain inputs, compile data from various sources, perform complex calculations, summarize Capital and Risk Weighted Assets (RWA) impacts, and perform analysis to assess impact under Basel III and other applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Prepare summaries and presentations for Senior Executives to illustrate capital and RWA information, changes, and drivers.
  • Provide analytic support to respond to senior executives’ questions and/or what-if scenarios, and address any requests for expanded information from OSFI or other regulatory bodies.
  • Leverage data and analytics to provide insightful summaries and presentations for the impact of capital or RWA movements, regulatory changes, acquisitions, and what-if scenarios on capital ratios.
  • Enhance and maintain Business Lines Risk Weighted Assets (RWA) reports and track RWA growth and impact on capital ratio.
  • Migrate reporting data to a Power BI and/or other platforms for Business Lines consumption.
  • Establish strong partnerships within relevant departments across the Bank to ensure assumptions are current and accurate and deliver prompt capital ratios’ projections.
  • Work closely with Strategic Transaction Review to support the Bank's acquisitions/divestitures/restructuring initiatives through the preparation of scenario analysis for capital ratio impact and plausible stress scenarios.
  • Work closely with Group Treasury - Term Funding to ensure alignment with bank funding and provide frequent updates to executive management.
  • Implement best-in-class data management practices and continuously strive to improve, simplify, and streamline forecasting models and processes.
  • Refine forecasting models and data repositories to ensure clarity of complex calculations and assumptions.
  • Develop and maintain a current knowledge base of Basel III rules and leverage this knowledge in the development of forward-looking analysis and projections.
  • Assist the Director in building process documentation for the team's deliverables.
  • Assist the Director in completing other deliverables to OSFI and/or Senior Management, on an as-required basis.
